I love the holiday season – spending time with loved ones, opening presents, making cookies, watching Christmas movies – I’m here for it all! One of my favorite childhood memories around the holidays was always our festive holiday breakfast that my mom would make every year on Christmas morning.

Now that Isaac and I have started our own holiday traditions, I’m the one making the festive breakfast. It usually includes a savory egg dish, something sweet like cinnamon rolls or French toast, fruit and some sort of protein.

If you’re like me and always love having a special Christmas morning feast, you’re in luck because today I am sharing over 50 Christmas breakfast ideas. From savory make-ahead breakfast casseroles to cinnamon rolls I’ve got you covered on all your breakfast needs!

Tips for a Stress-Free Christmas Breakfast

Want to enjoy Christmas morning without spending it all in the kitchen? Here are a few things I’ve learned over the years:

  • Make what you can ahead of time. Most casseroles, baked oatmeal, and even cinnamon rolls can be prepped the night before and just popped in the oven Christmas morning.
  • Balance sweet and savory. I love pairing something rich like cinnamon rolls with an egg dish or fruit salad to keep things balanced.
  • Don’t forget drinks! Mimosas, coffee, and a pitcher of water with citrus slices make things feel special without much extra effort.
  • Set the table the night before. It’s one less thing to do in the morning — and makes the meal feel more festive.

Egg Dishes

I love making an egg dish for Christmas brunch. Frittatas, quiches, breakfast casseroles, egg muffins… there are so many options to choose from!

Cinnamon Rolls, French Toast, & Pancakes

Cinnamon rolls or French toast are two of my favorite recipes to make as a sweet option for Christmas morning, but if you’re more of a pancake family I’ve got you covered there as well!

Muffins, Quick Breads, & Cake

From a festive gingerbread loaf to blueberry muffins and coffee cake these baked goods are guaranteed to be a hit with your guests.

Oatmeal

Another great option for brunch when serving a crowd is a baked oatmeal recipe. There are so many different flavor variations (my personal fave for Christmas morning is my gingerbread baked oatmeal) and it can be made ahead of time!

Sides & Drinks

Can’t forget about the sides… fruit, protein, potatoes… all great additions to any Christmas morning spread.

Brittany’s Christmas Morning Picks

If you’re not sure where to start, here are a few of my go-to holiday breakfast recipes. I make the make-ahead breakfast casserole (recipe below) almost every year, and I always include something sweet like the gingerbread baked oatmeal or fluffy cinnamon rolls. Pair it all with a big bowl of fruit and a round of mimosas, and you’re set for a cozy and delicious morning.

I hope this post gives you plenty of inspiration for a fun and festive Christmas breakfast! If you make any of these recipes, tag me on Instagram or let me know your favorites in the comments. I love seeing your holiday traditions.

Christmas Breakfast Ideas

Start your Christmas morning off right with these 50+ Christmas breakfast ideas. From breakfast casseroles and quiches to cinnamon rolls and French toast, there's something for everyone!
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 50 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 12 oz package turkey bacon
  • 2 teaspoons olive or avocado oil
  • 2 cups red potatoes, diced into ¼ inch chunks
  • ½ yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 cups baby spinach
  • 12 eggs
  • ½ cup non-dairy milk, I used unsweetened almond milk
  • ¾ teaspoon sea salt, divided
  • ½ teaspoon ground pepper, divided
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Spray a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
  • Cook turkey bacon according to the package directions. Set aside to cool. Once cool chop the bacon into small-medium chunks.
  • Meanwhile, add oil to a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot add potatoes, red pepper, onion, ½ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper to skillet. Cook until potatoes have softened and onion is translucent, about 10 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1-2 more minutes.
  • Add spinach and cook for another 2-3 minutes until it begins to wilt. Remove from heat, add chopped turkey bacon and stir to combine.
  • Add veggie mixture to prepared baking dish and let cool for 5-10 minutes while you whisk your eggs together.
  • In a large mixing bowl add eggs, milk, paprika, garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper. Whisk together until smooth and combined.
  • Add shredded cheese to egg mixture and stir to combine.
  • Pour egg mixture over veggies and turkey bacon. Give the mixture a good stir to make sure everything is evenly distributed.
  • Cover baking dish with foil or plastic wrap and store in the fridge overnight.
  • The next morning preheat your oven to 400°F and remove the egg bake from the fridge to come to room temperature for 10-15 minutes while oven preheats.
  • Bake the casserole uncovered for 25-30 minutes until top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving!

Notes

  • Make right away: Instead of covering the casserole, just preheat the oven to 400°F and bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes.
