These healthy summer desserts are fresh, easy to make, and perfect for everything from backyard cookouts to simple weeknight treats. Whether you want something frozen, fruity, no-bake, or baked with seasonal ingredients, this list has you covered.
Summer is hands down my favorite season for dessert. The produce is incredible, the last thing I want to do is spend an hour in a hot kitchen, and honestly a cold frozen treat or a simple fruit crisp just hits differently when it is 90 degrees outside.
Every single recipe on this list has been made in my own kitchen and tested by my family, which means they are all genuinely delicious and not just healthy for the sake of being healthy. I have organized everything into four categories so you can easily find exactly what you are in the mood for.
If I had to pick my personal favorites to bring to a cookout I would go with the healthy banana pudding or the peach crisp every single time. And if you just need a simple everyday treat that the whole family will love, keep a batch of frozen yogurt bark or chocolate peanut butter banana bites in the freezer all summer long. Trust me on that one!
Make them ahead: Most of these recipes keep really well in the freezer or fridge which means you can prep them days in advance and pull them out whenever the craving hits. This is especially helpful if you are bringing something to a cookout or party.
Let frozen treats soften before serving: If you are pulling something straight from the freezer give it a few minutes at room temperature first. It brings out the flavor and makes the texture so much better.
Use peak season fruit whenever possible: Summer desserts live and die by the quality of the fruit. Ripe peaches, fresh berries, and sweet corn straight from the farmers market will always taste better than anything out of season.
Double the recipe for a crowd: Most of these recipes scale up really easily. If you are feeding a group I always recommend making double and you will be glad you did.
Now that you’ve got the inside scoop, let’s get into the recipes. I’ve broken them up into categories so it’s easy to find what you’re craving — whether that’s something frozen, fruity, or a little chocolatey.
