A healthy take on burger night, these spinach and feta turkey burgers are made with lean meat and loaded with flavor!

You might not know this about me but I was a Pescatarian for a number of years! When I started eating meat again, these spinach and feta turkey burgers were one of the first “meat meals” I made.

They were instantly a hit in our home so I knew I needed to share them with you as well.

These turkey burgers are fast and ridiculously easy to make. All you have to do is mix up the ingredients, form the patties and toss them on the grill. Dinner will be ready in minutes!

Are Turkey Burgers Healthier Than Beef Burgers?

Both types of meat provide a great source of protein, vitamins and minerals. Having said that, turkey is lower in saturated fat than beef – which is great for heart health!

If you are trying to lose weight, low-fat or fat-free ground turkey is a great option because it’s low in calories and high in protein. I personally love making turkey burgers because I get my burger fix without added fat and calories.

Spinach & Feta Turkey Burger Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need for these turkey burgers:

  • ground turkey – I like using lean ground turkey, but you can use any type you prefer.
  • baby spinach – chop the spinach finely to mix into the burger.
  • crumbled feta cheese – look for finely crumbled feta cheese so the cheese will be evenly distributed throughout the burgers.
  • egg whites – this helps bind the burgers together so they don’t fall apart on the grill!
  • fresh parsley – dried works as well, but I love the flavor that fresh herbs add.
  • garlic cloves – the perfect savory flavor accompaniment.
  • sea salt and pepper – season to taste.

How to Serve Spinach and Feta Turkey Burgers

These burgers have a hint of Mediterranean flavor which you can totally play up with the toppings — maybe a few olives and a spread of hummus? Sounds delightful to me.

They’re also delicious with traditional burger toppings – lettuce, sliced onion, ketchup and mustard.

Serve this burger on a traditional bun, use lettuce leaves as a bun or serve over greens for a burger salad. We’ve done all three countless times and they’re equally delicious!

How to Store Turkey Burgers

These turkey burgers store really well, which make them great for meal prep! After allowing the burgers to cool, store in an airtight container for up to five days in the refrigerator. For longer storage, you can also freeze them!

What to Pair with Turkey Burgers:

Fries

There’s really nothing better than a burger and fries. Here are some healthy options:

Salads

And here are some great side salads to pair with these burgers!

  1. We eat turkey burgers all the time! This is a nice, healthy recipe to try to add some flavor and variety to what we always eat.

  2. You definitely need to add flavor to turkey burgers! These look great – nice and easy. 🙂

  3. Could you do a healthy easter meal guide? That would be awesome! P.S. I’m vegetarian so some vegetarian options would be cool. Thanks>

  4. I LOVE turkey burgers! They’re so flavorful. Spinach is a great addition here.

    1. Hey Lisa. I haven’t tried baking them, but I would think around 350°F or 375°F for about 30 minutes, flipping once around the 15 minute mark should work! Just be sure the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

  5. About to make these burgers! Any reason for just the egg whites and not the whole egg? Thanks!

  6. This sounds delicious! Do you need egg for this recipe or can you substitute for something else. My son is allergic to eggs.

    1. I use the egg to hold the burger patties together, but you could try using a flaxseed egg (1 Tablespoon of ground flax + 3 Tablespoons of water). You could also try making them without the egg. They might still hold together. Let me know if you try it.

    1. Yay!! I’m so glad you enjoyed these turkey burgers, Amanda! Thanks for taking the time to come back and leave a comment and star rating. I so appreciate it. <3

  7. hi! do you think it would be possible to make these without the egg whites? could i use bread crumbs? i don’t have eggs on hand right now. thanks so much!

    1. Hey Teresa – I use the egg to hold the burger patties together, but you could try using a flaxseed egg (1 Tablespoon of ground flax + 3 Tablespoons of water). You could also try making them without the egg. They might still hold together. Let me know if you try it.

  8. Want to try these this week but I’m out of spinach! Do you think kale would work instead? Thank you!

    1. That should work. I would just let it thaw and try and squeeze out as much of the liquid as possible otherwise, the burgers might be too soggy. Let me know how it turns out if you try it!

I made these using beyond burgers instead of turkey and they were great! Cooked on the stove instead of the grill and they were a bit sticky using olive oil but nothing a metal spatula can’t handle. I will definitely be making these again!

    1. Oh good to know they worked with the beyond burgers! Thanks for sharing, Abby! I’m glad you enjoyed these burgers. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment + star rating. I appreciate it. <3

Fantastic combination of flavors, texture and moisture!. We used chicken bread instead of turkey (that’s what we had at hand), and it was truly a very satisfying and flavorful meal. Looking forward to making it again sometime soon! 🙂

Great recipe! My family and I loved it. Can you make these burgers and freeze them/ If so, how should I pack them for the freezer?
    Thanks!

    1. Hey Carol! I haven’t tried freezing them before, but I would imagine they’ll hold up just fine if stored in an airtight bag or container in the freezer.

Simple, easy and delicious. I threw these together and cooked in a grill pan. I put them inside pita pockets with tzatziki red onion and bell pepper. Such a delicious meal. Thank you!

These spinach and feta burgers were absolutely delicious. I used pita bread and topped it with roasted red pepper when I first prepared them and the next day for lunch added it to some mixed greens and more veggies. Looking forward to making this again…soon!

  18. Hello! Do you think this recipe would work with chickpeas for a meat free version? I love your recipes! 🙂

    1. Hey Allison – I’m not sure how these would turn out with chickpeas. You could try my black bean burgers recipe with chickpeas instead since they’re already made with a bean.

These were AMAZING. The flavours went together so well, plus they were so easy to make! One thing to note is that- I’m guessing due to the lack of breadcrumbs- these were quite delicate and I was very worried that they would fall apart on the grill (thankfully, they did not). But, overall they were great and I will for sure make these again!

    1. Yay! So pumped you loved these burgers, Sarah. Thanks for making them and for the review. I so appreciate it!

Holy moly! I used Trader Joe’s organic ground turkey, Trader Joe’s organic crumbled feta, and Trader Joe’s brioche buns for these burgers. I did use fresh Italian parsley. My 3 year old daughter who is quite picky and usually only wants the sweet potato fries that we always have with any burgers. She ate the WNTIRE BURGER and asked for MORE! Y’all MUST TRY THIS recipe.

    1. Ah!! This is so wonderful to hear, Katianne! So pumped these turkey burgers were a hit. Thanks for making them and coming back to leave a review. I really appreciate it!

These are SO delicious!!!! I’ve made Turkey burgers on the past that are too dry, too bland, too wet/watery (from veggie add-ins to help moisten them). Just a lot of disappointing Turkey burgers. But these are spot-on!! So delicious, juicy but not watery, and so flavorful! Thank you for your recipes!!

    1. Woo!! So pumped these turkey burgers have been such a hit. Thanks so much for making them, Cathi! I so appreciate the review :).

  27. 5 stars
Hands down the best turkey burgers I have had!! When making the burgers, the consistency was very sticky and I didn’t think I would be able to form them into a patty but I let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes and they formed into Pattie’s beautifully!!! 100% give them a try!!!

    1. Oh yay! Happy to hear these spinach and feta turkey burgers were a success, Nancy. Thanks so much for coming back to leave a review. The feedback means so much to me!
