I don’t know what took me so long to recreate Big Mac sauce at home… but wow, this one hits just right. It’s creamy, tangy, a little sweet, and gives anything you put it on that nostalgic fast-food flavor in the best way.

Real talk: I didn’t grow up eating super healthy. I was hooked on fast food for a long time and Big Macs were one of my go-tos. These days, I’m all about recreating my childhood favorites at home with better-for-you ingredients—like I did with my healthy Chick-fil-A sauce.

This Big Mac sauce is no exception. It tastes just like the original, but it’s made with wholesome staples you probably already have on hand. I love drizzling it on my homemade turkey burgers or using it as a dressing for my cheeseburger salad, but it’s also amazing as a dip for fries or drizzled on a burger bowl.

Why You Gotta Try This One

If you’ve ever wished Big Mac sauce could taste just as good without all the processed ingredients… this is it. I used a combo of Greek yogurt and avocado oil mayo to keep things creamy without the heaviness, and skipped the corn syrup, seed oils, and additives that usually come in fast food sauces.

You still get that iconic creamy, tangy flavor—thanks to mustard, pickle juice, and a little ketchup—but in a version you can feel good about keeping in your fridge and serving to your kids. It’s a total upgrade that tastes indulgent but is made with simple, wholesome ingredients.

Once you try it, don’t be surprised if you start looking for excuses to put it on everything!

Ingredients Needed

Big Mac Sauce ingredients: Plain Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, finely chopped pickles, ketchup, yellow mustard, pickle juice.
  • plain Greek yogurt – adds creaminess with a little protein boost. I recommend full-fat for the best texture.
  • mayonnaise – bings that rich, classic flavor. I used avocado oil mayo for a lighter option, but use whatever you have on hand. No mayo? You can use all Greek yogurt in a pinch—it’ll be tangier but still creamy!
  • ketchup – adds a touch of sweetness and gives the sauce its signature color. Look for one without high fructose corn syrup for a cleaner option.
  • yellow mustard – brings just the right amount of tang and zip.
  • pickle juice – key to getting that signature Big Mac flavor.
  • finely chopped pickles – adds crunch and that iconic pickle bite in every spoonful. I recommend using a good-quality pickle brand without added sugar, artificial dyes, or funky ingredients. Look for dill pickles with a clean ingredient list for the best flavor and crunch.
  • garlic powder + onion powder – both add savory depth and help round out the flavor.
  • salt – just a pinch! Start small and adjust to taste once everything’s mixed.

Ways to Customize

This sauce is pretty perfect as-is, but if you want to switch things up:

  • Add some heat – A dash of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne gives it a spicy kick.
  • Make it vegan – Use plant-based mayo and yogurt to keep it dairy-free but still creamy.
  • Try a smoky twist – A touch of smoked paprika or BBQ sauce adds depth.

How to Make Big Mac Sauce

This homemade sauce comes together in minutes and couldn’t be easier.

Whisk mixing ingredients like pickles, ketchup, and mayo in a glass bowl to make Big Mac sauce

Step 1: Grab a bowl, add all your ingredients, and mix!

Step 2: Serve it right away or let it chill in the fridge for a bit so the flavors really come together.

Brittany’s Recipe Tips

  • Chop the pickles finely – The smaller, the better. You want that pickle flavor in every bite without big chunks.
  • Let it sit – This sauce gets even better after some time in the fridge. Let it chill for at least an hour if you can. The flavors meld, and it thickens up a bit too.
  • Go for crunchy dill pickles – The texture and flavor really matter here. A classic, crisp dill pickle adds that nostalgic Big Mac flavor.
  • Double it – Trust me, it goes fast. Make a double batch if you’re planning to use it throughout the week on burgers, bowls, or as a dip.

How to Store Big Mac Sauce

This sauce keeps really well, so it’s perfect for meal prep. Store leftovers in an airtight container or small jar in the fridge for up to one week. Just give it a quick stir before using.

If you find yourself reaching for it all week long (like I do), go ahead and double the batch so you’ve always got some on hand for easy meals, burgers, bowls, or last-minute dipping situations.
