This easy mango smoothie is made with just three ingredients ā€” frozen mango, Greek yogurt and milk. It’s super similar to a mango lassi, but without the added sugar!

Smoothie season is here and I am so excited! As soon as the weather turns warm I start to craving cool breakfast options like overnight oats and smoothies. Whoā€™s with me on this?! I can’t be the only one!

If youā€™re shaking your head yes, I have JUST the smoothie recipe for you ā€“ a delicious mango smoothie that tastes like a mango lassi!

Mango Lassi Without the Added Sugar

Itā€™s similar to a mango lassi, only a tad healthier because I stuck with three simple ingredients and skipped with added sugar and cream.

I didnā€™t add any Indian spices, but next time I make it I am going to add some because I bet it would be delicious and cardamom has amazing health benefits.

Health Benefits of Mangos

Mangos are considered to be the “king of fruit” in some areas of the world! They’re low in calories but packed with important vitamins and minerals. They’re high in antioxidants as well as several vitamins that help boost your immune system. Studies have linked mango consumption to improving heart health, eye health, digestion, hair and skin. They’re absolutely delicious and a great addition to any diet. (Source)

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • mango ā€“ nothing compares to the flavor of fresh mango, but I like using frozen in this recipe because it gives the smoothie the perfect texture.
  • Greek yogurt ā€“ I used plain Greek yogurt to keep the sugar content down and the protein high, but feel free to use a flavored yogurt if you’d like. I bet this smoothie would be delicious with vanilla Greek yogurt.
  • unsweetened vanilla almond milk ā€“ if you don’t want your smoothie to be as tart, feel free to use regular almond milk.
tip!
If you don't have frozen mango on hand, feel free to use frozen peaches or nectarines instead.

Upgrade your Smoothie!

There are so many things you can add to your mango smoothie. Here are some ideas:

  • Spices ā€“ like I mentioned above, I think cardamom would be a delicious addition. Ground ginger or turmeric would also be so tasty! For cardamom, start with 1/4 teaspoon. For ginger and turmeric, I’d start with 1/8 teaspoon!
  • Protein powder ā€“ make this a complete meal or snack by adding protein powder. I like using Nuzest!
  • Sweetener ā€“ if you use plain Greek yogurt and unsweetened almond milk, feel free to add a little sweetener if the end result is too tart for your preference. Maple syrup, honey or even a couple medjool dates would be easy to add to the mix.

3-Ingredient Mango Smoothie

Similar to a mango lassi, this simple protein-packed smoothie requires only three ingredients ā€” mango, Greek yogurt and almond milk. Creamy, cool and deliciously refreshing on a hot summer day.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen mango chunks
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Instructions

  • Blend: Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender and blend until smooth.
  • Enjoy: Pour into a glass, top with a few mango chunks and enjoy!

Notes

  • Dairy-free option: swap the Greek yogurt with full-fat coconut milk yogurt.Ā
  • Sweetener: This smoothie has a nice sweetness on it’s own from the mango, but if you’d like a sweeter smoothie feel free to use vanilla Greek yogurt or add a drizzle of maple syrup/honey or even 1-2 medjool dates.
  • Spices ā€“ For cardamom, start with 1/4 teaspoon. For ginger, cinnamon and/or turmeric, I’d start with 1/8 teaspoon!
  • Protein powder ā€“Ā make this a complete meal or snack by adding protein powder. I like using Nuzest!

  1. Yum! I love how simple and easy this is. Great idea to add a pinch of cardamom. I bet a pinch of garam masala would be fabulous too! Can’t wait to dive in and drink up!

  2. I had the best mango lassi from this authentic Indian place near my school, but I haven’t had one since. But this recipe is definitely inspiring me! šŸ™‚

  3. I tried this receipe today with a 50/50 ratio of almond milk and pineapple juice. It was delicious and satisfying.

  5. I’m with you, girl! I’m not ready to leave summer behind, even though fall is amazing. Love me some mango!

  6. Great recipe, but skip the almond breeze almond milk!!! It contain carrageenan—look it up-it’s not healthy and causes inflammation.

    1. Hi Monica. Just as an update, Almond Breeze is currently phasing out carrageenan from their products. First to market are Unsweetened Original and Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze shelf stable varieties, which are appearing on store shelves now. All Almond Breeze products will be carrageenan-free by early 2016!!

  7. I just made this smoothie for my whole family and they loved ittttt! I just added a little bit of honey to make it sweeter. I usually suck at cooking but this recipe is so simple and easy even I nailed it!

This is our favorite smoothie. I add a fresh mango (one or two if you like it stronger), milk or soy or almond milk, live culture yogurt, flax seed oil, a dash of nutmeg or cardamom. Mango is a subtle flavor and people often buy the puree or slices in cans. Frozen mango should be just as good although with mango in season I have not tried it. Not everyone likes the taste of mango and it can always be mixed with other fruits to your own taste. We use coconut sugar or sugar substitute because some mangos are just not that sweet.

    1. Hey T! Something went wonky with the nutrition facts. I just updated them so they’re correct now. It’s 190 cals for the smoothie, not 823!!!! šŸ™‚

Loved this! Sooo easy!! I used Trader Joe frozen mango and used 2% milk. Delish. Great warm weather drink/meal. P.S. I found it sweet enough though my spouse (who likes things sweet) thought it could be a bit sweeter P.P.S. this made a generous serving – I shared it with my spouse. Will make again soon!
