Mango Lassi Smoothie Recipe and Things Coming out of the Closet

by Eating Bird Food on June 25, 2010

Last night’s smoothie class inspired me and I woke up this morning craving a delicious smoothie. Turns out I had everything I needed on hand to make a mango lassi with Voskos Greek Yogurt. A lassi is an Indian smoothie made with yogurt. Although mine version isn’t necessarily traditional, it’s just as tasty.

Yum! If you like mango, you gotta try this one. It’s one of my favorite smoothie recipes.

Oh man- the craziest thing just happened! One of Isaac’s lizards escaped from the cage and scared me half to death. Oh yea, PS, we have two lizards. A boy and a girl and once they had a baby. The baby part was kind of fun because he just randomly appeared one day.

Anyhow, you’re probably wondering why I never mentioned that we have lizards – well lets just say I’m not the biggest fan of reptiles and they are mainly Isaac’s pets but when he’s not around I take care of them. The Crested Geckos have soft little feet that are fun to feel on your hands, but they are also FAST and they POUNCE on things and they just kind of scare me. So back to the story at hand. I went to their cage this morning to give them water and I couldn’t find either of them. They’re pretty good at hiding so I didn’t think much of it. This afternoon I noticed that the female was burrowed under the bedding, so I figured the male was probably burrowed as well- just more hidden. Hours Later, i.e. 10 minutes ago, I was putting clothes away in my closet and noticed something scurrying around . I jumped and probably screamed, although I don’t remember if I did or not. The sneaky male lizard had escaped, came all the way down the hall and was hanging out in my closet!

Isaac wasn’t home so I had to scoop him up myself. Like I said, I’m a wee bit scared of them because they move so quickly so this was a big challenge for me. After chasing him for a few minutes, I was finally able to capture him and take him back to the cage. Isaac would have been so proud of me for actually picking him up. Seriously, my adrenaline must have kicked in because usually I’m a totally scardey cat when it comes to reptiles. Let’s just hope both the lizards stay in their respective cage. Olive is the only bed buddy I want right now.

Good night!

-Brittany

Hahahaha! This is too funny! Lizards freak the heck out of me! In Hawaii when a lizard is in our room I spaz…like can’t breath spaz. How do you live with them?? You are brave!

I heart mangos wayyyy too much and think they are best summer fruit. This sounds amazing!

Do you think it needs the yogurt in it? I don’t eat it :(

Lassis traditionally have yogurt, but I definitely think this smoothie would be just as tasty without it!

I’m terrified of lizards…I’m not an animal girl, i guess! I like seeing them outside in the wild, but that is about it! And I love that you serve your smoothies in Pom glasses. Ryan and I do that too!

Isaac was obsessed with POM is college so we acquired quite a few of the glasses before they switched to plastic.

I love me a mango lassi! Thanks for the recipe.

Way to deal with the lizard situation! They may be small, but the those suckers sneak up on you like that, its nerve-wrecking!
