Easy healthy fudge made with just 3 simple ingredients: no sugar added chocolate chips, natural peanut butter and chopped peanuts. Only 1 gram of sugar per piece!
Three ingredient healthy fudge that only has 1 gram of sugar per piece? Is this real life?! You better believe it!
This low sugar fudge recipe is ridiculously easy and will be a hit for the holidays this year. If you aren’t gathering, this would be the perfect thing to make and package up to spread a little love with your friends and family.
A Cross Between Truffles and Fudge
To be honest, I can’t put my finger on the right name for this dessert. Taste testers have said this isn’t really what they would call fudge… many of them don’t like regular fudge, but they LOVE this chocolate delight! I feel like it’s a cross between a truffle and fudge, but I’m calling it fudge because the shape and prep is more similar to fudge than truffles. To be honest, the name doesn’t matter because it’s absolutely delish!
Low Sugar Healthy Fudge Ingredients
You only need three simple ingredients to make this tasty treat:
- natural peanut butter – you can use either creamy or crunchy depending on what texture you want your fudge to be!
- dark chocolate chips – Using Lily’s dark chocolate chips keeps this recipe low in sugar and dairy-free.
- chopped roasted peanuts – these are optional, but I like adding them for more texture and flavor. Plus, they look really pretty sprinkled on top of the fudge.
Substitutions & Notes
- Nut butter – allergic to peanuts or prefer a different nut or seed butter? I haven’t tested it with different nut butters like almond or cashew, but I’m sure it would work great!
- Nuts – switch up the added nuts and add walnuts, pecans or almonds (or any other type of nut!) to the fudge. I’ve even thought about adding chopped espresso beans to make espresso fudge.
How to Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge
Making this fudge is so easy. The hardest part is waiting for the fudge to set!
- Line a pan with parchment – Line a 9×5 loaf pan with parchment paper. I like to use little clips on each side to keep the parchment in place.
- Melt dark chocolate – Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave using 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until completely melted and smooth. It will likely take 1 to 3 minutes (depending on your microwave). Make sure you don’t overheat and scorch the chocolate! Stop heating as soon as it is melted.
- Add peanut butter – Quickly add peanut butter to the melted chocolate and stir until completely combined.
- Transfer to loaf pan and chill – Pour peanut butter chocolate mixture into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle chopped roasted peanuts on top. Place in the fridge to set for about 30-60 minutes or until firm to the touch.
- Cut and serve – Once chocolate has hardened, cut into small square pieces and serve.
How to Store Homemade Fudge
Store fudge in a dark, cool place. It should last about 7-10 days in a cool kitchen or even longer (about 3 weeks or so) in the fridge or freezer. If you keep the fudge in the fridge or freezer, be sure to bring it out and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before eating because the chocolate gets really hard when chilled.
Make This Fudge as a Special Holiday Gift
Homemade treats are such a thoughtful idea for friends and family during the holidays. Instead of stressing about buying gifts for everyone, why not gift some holiday treats?! Who doesn’t love edible gifts? NO ONE.
To give this fudge as a gift, I would pack it in an airtight container and tie a ribbon around it. You can use a simple disposable container (brands usually release cute themed containers around the holidays), but there are cute reusable airtight containers (I love stainless steel and glass containers) that you can package the fudge in and gift. Not only will the recipient get delicious fudge, but they’ll also get a cool reusable container.

I am wondering if anyone has tried it with different nut butters. I am allergic to peanuts so 2 of the 3 ingredients won’t work for me.
Hi Vicki – I haven’t tested this recipe with different nut butters, but I am sure alone or cashew would also be delicious. You can also switch up the nuts with walnuts, pecans or almonds (or any other type of nut). I hope you enjoy this recipe!
