This grapefruit apple cider vinegar drink is an awesome immune booster, and a tasty way to get your daily dose of apple cider vinegar.
I’m really excited to share this post with you because I’ve had this little drink recipe on my to-do list for over a year. You see, there’s this grapefruit apple cider vinegar drink called “The Burner” at one of my favorite local juice shops. I don’t drink juice very often because I like smoothies and smoothie bowls better, but when I see something made with apple cider vinegar I have to try it. Plus, if there’s one juice I do actually enjoy, it’s grapefruit juice. Hello, skinny palomas!
When I tried The Burner at North End Juice Co., I loved it and decided I need to make a homemade version STAT. When I was recently gifted a Hurom H-AI slow juicer, I immediately knew the first thing I needed to juice was a grapefruit so I could make this drink.
I should note that Dr. Oz also has a popular grapefruit apple cider vinegar drink, and as part of his Slimdown Plan he suggests that you drink it before every meal. I’m not going to go that far, but I think this drink is awesome and a tasty way to incorporate apple cider vinegar into your diet, which I’m all about. Apple cider vinegar has a ton of great benefits on its own, and grapefruit juice does as well, so combined they’re a powerhouse of nutrients.
What are the benefits of grapefruit juice?
Grapefruit juice is relatively low in calories (100 calories for 8 oz) and high in nutrients. It’s packed with vitamins and minerals (like Vitamin C) that can help build your immune system. Studies have also shown that eating grapefruit may lead to weight loss because of the fiber and water content. It has also been shown to help with diabetes and heart disease. Basically, it’s a powerhouse fruit! And don’t worry, with grapefruit juice you may be missing out on some of the insoluble fiber from the grapefruit – but you’ll still be getting the soluble fiber. Learn more about juicing and fiber here.
It is important to note that grapefruit isn’t for everyone! Grapefruit contains substances that block certain enzymes in your body, which prevents the breakdown of some medications and can lead to overdose. If you are on any medications, check with your doctor before adding grapefruit to your diet!
Now onto the “recipe”. It’s such a simple drink you don’t really even need a recipe, but I’m going to share one anyway. 1 part apple cider vinegar + 4 parts grapefruit juice and a touch of sweetener and voila! You’ve got a delicious grapefruit apple cider vinegar drink.

This simple drink is so pretty! And it sounds entirely refreshing!
Ty so much. Have been trying to find a drink combo for apple cider vinegar for awhile as I hate the taste. This is a breakthrough for me.
Interesting… never thought about adding grapefruit to apple cider vinegar will have to give it a try thanks!
Oh heck yes! I saw this on insta, and since I’ve been playing with my new juicer (helloooo awesome Christmas gift), I knew I had to try it right away! Going to do it now!
Super yum and perfect for Dryuary or whatever it’s called when people don’t drink booze in January 🙂 I skipped the sweetner and added sparkling water for a delicious mocktail. Thanks for the inspiration!
I read that some people including doctors and nutritionist are saying that this drink will not help you lose weight. Not true because I have been doing this for a week and my clothes are start to feel loose. You still have to eat right and exercise though
I was a little nervous about the apple cider vinegar taste, but I’m just finishing my first one and it’s delicious and refreshing!
Yay!! So glad you’re enjoying this drink, Chris! Thanks for trying my recipe and for coming back to leave a comment + star rating. I so appreciate it!
How often are you drinking the grapefruit/applecider drink?
Hello, just want to ask.. is it still okay if i just use the grapefruit juice instead of using a fresh grapefruit? Because in my country its really hard to find the fresh one. And grapefruit juice that i bought was not the red colour, but in yellow colour. Is it still effective for losing weight?
Yes! You will still get the same benefits using grapefruit juice.
How many times a day do I take the grapefruit juice with apple cider vinegar.. is it before meals
Hi Liz – You can really drink this as much or as little as you want throughout the day. Dr. Oz has a popular grapefruit apple cider vinegar drink, and as part of his Slimdown Plan he suggests that you drink it before every meal. Hopefully that helps. 🙂
I literally just wanted to add a little something something to the grapefruit this morning and came upon this combination. I personally love apple cider by it self but this was so refreshing for my morning fix. Thank You!
So glad you enjoyed this drink, Shelly! Thanks for making it and for coming back to leave a comment + star rating. I appreciate you. 🙂

I tried this over ice sweetened with honey, and it was delicious! I also like how informative your post is. My dad cannot have grapefruit because of a medication he is prescribed, so it’s great to have that reminder for people to check with their doctor if needed.
Yay! So happy to hear you loved this drink, Angelle. Thanks so much for the review too!
I Love this, i have also went as far as putting fresh boiled ginger root.. Let cool down and mix with the Grapefruit and appleccider vinigar. This is the greatest detoxification drink. Ginger root is also filled with many benefits.
So glad you love this drink, Grace. Thanks for the review. I so appreciate it!
There is a lot of carbs in this drink. Are these good carbs or bad carbs? Bad carbs are not good for cholesterol.
Hi Wanda – A majority of the carbs in this recipe come from the grapefruit juice. I have this version that has less carbs, check out my grape & ACV drink. Enjoy!
