Healthy Orange Chicken

This healthy orange chicken is a lightened-up take on the classic Chinese take-out dish. It’s loaded with flavor, easy to make and absolutely delicious especially when paired with rice and a side of veggies.

Ingredients

Whisk together tamari/coconut aminos/soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, water, arrowroot powder, orange juice, zest, garlic, ginger, honey, salt and pepper.

1. Make Sauce

Place arrowroot powder, flour, baking soda, cayenne, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Stir to combine. Crack eggs in a shallow bowl.

2. Prep Breading

Dredge each chicken chunk in the egg bowl, and then dip each into the flour mixture. Roll until each piece is covered completely.

3. Dredge Chicken

Bake chicken for 15 minutes. Bake on a wire rack to help chicken get crispier.

4. Bake Chicken

Heat oil in a skillet and crisp chicken up on each side.

5. Crisp Up Chicken

Remove chicken from skillet. Add sauce, cooking until thickened.

6. Thicken Sauce

Add chicken back to skillet and toss with the sauce.
