Healthy Gingerbread Loaf

A lightened up gingerbread loaf made with applesauce instead of oil and maple syrup instead of sugar. It's packed with warm spices and topped with a delicious maple cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients

In a medium bowl, stir together regular and whole wheat flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ground ginger and cloves.

1. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together applesauce, maple syrup, molasses, eggs, vanilla and milk until combined. Mix together wet and dry ingredients.

2. Mix Wet Ingredients

Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes.

3. Bake

Whisk together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar and maple syrup. Spread over gingerbread loaf and serve.
