We got around 10 inches of snow on Sunday night which led to snow days for both Isaac and I. Normally this would have been extremely fun, however because of the storm we lost power around 11PM Sunday night and it didn’t turn back on until around 3 on Monday. Muy fria en la casa.. I’ll leave it at that. We made the best of it, got on all our snow gear and headed to a park for sledding and snow playing.
Before heading out I was able to use the stove top (the pilot light still worked) and make some oatmeal/bran. I made the norm with banana stirred in but used a new topping- cherry preserves. A friend bought the preserves for my b-day and that jar is delicious- it has a slight tartness, but is just sweet enough with full cherries in the mix… Thanks Leah!
The view out of our front window
Olive loves the snow.. she pounces all around in it, but she gets really cold out there. Here she is all bundled up after coming inside.
She looks annoyed in the picture. I am sure that if she could talk it would be something like this, “Ugh.. Mom stop taking my picture.” Lunch was in the middle of our snow fun so I didn’t get a pic, but after sledding the day away I came home and made a big salad: spinach, 1/3 cup wheat berries, broccoli, cucumber, 1/4 avocado, and grape tomatoes all topped with Trader Joe’s Sweet Poppy Seed Dressing. This was my first time trying the dressing – YUM! I like the flavor a lot.
It’s still quite cold out and the snow isn’t melting this morning, but I’m headed to work. I am going to walk to work since it’s only 3 blocks but I really hope the sidewalks have been salted because I’m already prone to falling, walking to work on frozen slippery paths will not be helpful.
