Hiii and happy Friday!! I’m back with a loving lately post — perfect for light weekend reading. Basically these posts are just a chance for me to share a few things I’m crazy about at the moment. As always I’d love for you to play along and share some of your favorite things as of late in the comment section.
Videos. I’ve been working with a videographer to create short videos for the recipes here on EBF. Mostly for older recipes that are popular (like these Kale and Sweet Potato Brown Rice Bowls), but also some new ones (like the chicken fajita quinoa bowls). I think the videos really help show how quick and easy EBF recipes are to make and they do really well on Facebook. If you’ve seen them, let me know what you think!
This dreamy kitchen reno. I’m SO ready to renovate ours!
Public speaking. Never in a million years did I think that public speaking would make it to a loving lately post because I used to hate it, but this year I’ve done two speaking engagements and it’s been awesome. I almost said no to both, but I’ve been trying to step outside my comfort zone. Sometimes you just gotta do it! Practice really does make public speaking easier… as does using affirmations. Before speaking to the Junior League of Richmond this week I texted Alyssa about being nervous and she said, just tell yourself “I don’t really get nervous.” So literally for an hour before speaking I kept repeating it and I swear it helped.
These workout leggings from Peony and Me. They’re so soft and comfy. I’ve been wearing them a ton lately.
All the house plants. We recently went to a local greenhouse and bought a few new plant babies. The most exciting of the purchase was a massive split leaf philodendron… that we promptly named Fernando. I’ve been cutting some of the leaves to stick in a vase (like this), but it’s still growing like crazy and getting kinda unruly. He basically looks like this, but less polished and spread more horizontally than vertically. We definitely need to separate him and make Fern babies, but in the meantime he’s taking over our whole living room. Oh and we also went to a terrarium workshop this month, which was so fun. Now I want a terrarium for every room in our house.
Floating. Have you heard of it? I’ve only done it twice, but I really want to go more often. It’s like an epsom salt bath on steroids — super relaxing and great for detox. Here’s where I go in Richmond.
On the recipe front, here’s my must-make list: Sriracha Rainbow Noodle Salad on my to-make list. Everything Heidi does is golden so I can’t wait to try this salad. This Cashew Chocolate Chip Cookie Skillet. I’m going to make it with Reginald’s Cashew Nilla. Chocolate Peanut Butter Eggs. And oldie but goodie that’s definitely happening again this year. They’re soo good! High protein instant pot recipes. I need to get better about using mine. Sheet Pan Salmon with Rosemary Potatoes and Green Beans. Sheet pan dinners are my jam lately.
Peppermint & eucalyptus shower melts. Like a bath bomb, but for those of us that shower more than soak. Yes!
Yoga. Since Tulum I’ve been doing yoga regularly, at least 2-3 times a week and it’s been so amazing. Physically, my arms and core are getting so much stronger and I’m finally able to semi do crow pose, which is a huge deal for me. To top it off, I always feel sooo relaxed after taking a class!
If you want to lose fat, you gotta lift weights. <— I know people have been saying it for ages, but it’s so true. I’ve been strength training/lifting heavy since last October and slowly but surely my mindset has shifted from a cardio bunny to a weight lover!
If you’ve been wondering what the keto diet is all about this post is a great read. I totally agree with Gina on the fact that the keto diet works for some people, but overall it’s too hard to maintain long-term so it’s not sustainable.
My Polar Loop. I stopped wearing it when I cut back on exercise last year (when working to balancing my hormones) and now that things are back to normal it felt like a good time to bring the loop back. Working from home on the computer most of the day I really have to make an effort how to get 10K steps a day.
Boketto Wellness. A modern-day apothecary offering wellness services (acupuncture and massage) and a variety of natural beauty products, herbs and supplements. I know these sort of boutiques are everywhere in LA, but this is the first of it’s kind in Richmond. I ended up snagging a few Anima Mundi products that are good for liver detox that I’m excited to try out, but I honestly can’t wait to go back and shop more!
Charm School. A newer ice cream shop in Richmond offering unique flavors (think toast & jam or cereal milk) and quite a few vegan options. I got the vegan peanut butter fudge and was AMAZING. I already want to go back.
On Instagram: thejungalow — I’m so inspired by all the plants and beautiful colors leefromamerica — lee’s dreamy food styling is such an inspiration and I love all her plant pics, chicstripes — Sydney’s feed is full of thrifted fashion, coffee and cute spaces and everything just goes together. I’m diggin’ it.
Have a wonderful weekend friends! I’m running the Monument Ave 10K tomorrow and then headed to D.C. for an event with Isaac. Should be a fun weekend!
