As the holidays draw near I’ve been looking back on 2016. It has definitely been a year of change and healing for me and through this process my perspective of the word “healthy” has changed. I’ve learned that being healthy isn’t about being thin. I’ve learned to truly love myself — no mater my clothing size or the number on the scale. I’ve learned that my size doesn’t define me. I’ve embraced intuitive eating and moved away from the diet mindset in my own life and I want to move my health coaching in this direction as well.
I’ve always said that getting healthy is about mindset and lifestyle changes and now more than ever do I fully believe that these changes the best way to reach your health goals. Some changes are certainly easier than others and it might be a slower process, but making lifestyle changes is manageable, attainable and more importantly, sustainable. I know you’ve heard it time and time again, but restrictive diets DON’T WORK. They create an all or nothing mindset, confuse our bodies and they perpetuate the yo-yo dieting cycle.
With all of this in mind, I’m planning to host another healthy holiday challenge this year!
It’s not about being rigid, sticking to a strict diet or having zero treats throughout the holidays. It’s about being mindful, listening to your body and doing things that make you feel good. It’s a fun way to keep us all (myself included) on track with a healthy habit mindset this holiday season. I know it can be tough to stay motived throughout the holidays, especially the month of December. It’s cold outside, it’s dark when you leave for work AND when you get home and it seems like there’s one holiday event after another.
Cocktails, party food, holiday baked goods… it’s easy to get overwhelmed with everything and just decide to take December off and hop back on the health wagon in January.
But why? You can totally enjoy yourself throughout the holidays while managing your stress level and maintaining healthy habits which will in turn, help you feel energized and happy rather than disappointed and desperate come January.
Simply stick with all your regular healthy habits on the daily and enjoy the holidays by focusing on the true meaning of the season, whatever that means to you!
We’re surrounded by food throughout the holidays, but it shouldn’t be the focus!
We all know what we should be doing to stay healthy — drinking enough water, exercising, getting enough sleep at night, eating at least five servings of vegetables a day, managing stress etc. — but for some reason these simple habits fall to the back burner during the holidays.
I’ve found that accountability is THE KEY to success when it comes to sticking with a goal so that’s what this program provides. There’s no diet rules, meal plans or deprivation and the focus of this challenge isn’t weight loss. I want you to truly enjoy the holidays, BUT also keep up with your healthy habits so that when January 1st comes around you feel 100% awesome.
I’ll show you how to enjoy your favorite holiday treats without guilt, how to navigate holiday parties, schedule “me time” even when you’re crazy busy and more!
The program will run from Monday, November 28th – January 2nd. It involves 10 simple healthy habits and a points system. You can get a total of 10 points each day and you’ll log your points every evening. If you don’t complete one of the habits you simply don’t get a point for it. Each week I’ll check the stats and the top performers will be entered to win a prize. Sounds fun, right?
