Hey everyone, happy Saturday to you! I’ve had a productive morning including a 5 mile run and Target shopping spree. Now I’m all clean, lounging around in my robe and having a late breakfast as I type this. A little exercise, a little shopping, and lots of relaxing- perfect Saturday morning!
Backtracking 24-26 hours, yesterday morning started with a nice little superset training workout – now I’m sore courtesy of the Fitnessista. 🙂 I came home from the gym, showered with my new pink shower cap, quickly got dressed, and roamed around the kitchen trying to decide what to eat for breakfast. I started munching on a little trail mix and then decided a smoothie would be the quickest and best option.
I didn’t have any canned pumpkin laying around for what I really wanted, a Pumpkin Pie Smoothie, but it ended up being okay because I made a blueberry instead.
I used frozen blueberries, 1/2 of a frozen banana, almond milk, sunwarrior vanilla protein powder, water, coconut oil, and a bit of maca. It was no PPS, but still tasty nonetheless. I was going to take it to work with me, but I had accidentally slurped it down before heading out the door. Opps – sometimes with smoothies I drink them way too fast. They’re just so good it’s hard to remember to sip slowly. Anyone else feel me on this one?
The AM working hours went by quickly and soon enough it was time to eat. A co-worker/blog reader/friend treated me to lunch at one of my favorite coffee shops as a birthday present. The best part is that she even wore her walking shoes so that we could walk to Ellwood’s Coffee rather than drive. She knows me too well. 🙂
The Thai Tofu wrap, fruit cup, and Green Jasmine tea was the best b-day present she could have ever given me. Thanks again Molly!
The wrap, which was served warm, had baked tofu, julienned vegetables and peanut sauce. Like most things Ellwood’s creates, it was excellent. I’ll definitely be ordering it again!
The fruit cup, which was piled high with grapes, inspired my decision of what to make for the Movie Party we were attending later in the evening. I needed something I could whip up in 1/2 an hour so I bought a bunch of organic produce and threw together a nice little fruit salad. Here’s what ended up in the mix- a granny smith and gala apple, 2 pears, 2 bananas, a tangerine and a raspberry blood orange.
I washed and chopped the fruit, squeezed on a little lime juice, mixed everything together and sprinkled on a few pepitas. Super easy, yet extra tasty!
The Movie Party was being hosted right across the street from our house so we simply walked over.
Everyone grabbed a bite to eat and drink before the movie got started. There were plenty of adult beverages to sip including fruit infused vodka that the host had been soaking for a couple months.
Despite having come to the party with little intention of drinking I couldn’t resist a blueberry infused vodka on the rocks.
There were lots of yummy eats, but the star of the show, at least for me, was the cracker, brie, and fig jam appetizer that our neighbors brought over.
I love all things fig so this was right up my alley but once a cracker was topped with both the fig jam and brie….. Holy Yum! I definitely enjoyed that little treat- along with organic cucumber with baba ghanoush, and spinach spanakopita. Everything was super tasty!
The movie of the evening was Young Frankenstein. I’d never heard of the movie or seen it so I didn’t know what to expect, but as it turns out, the movie is hysterical and I really enjoyed it. I think I was the only person at the party who hadn’t been it before. 🙂 Have you seen this 1974 classic?
After the movie we hung out for a bit and chatted but then came home and crashed out as both Isaac and I had early work-out obligations this morning, a 5 mile run for me and 2 Ultimate Frisbee games for him!!
I’m now off to do laundry, straighten up the casa and figure out what other fun things I can get into today! I hope you’re having a wonderful Saturday yourself.
