iherb Shopping Spree Giveaway

by Eating Bird Food on January 25, 2010

iherb contacted me with an offer I couldn’t resist. A $50 shopping spree for me and a $50 shopping spree for one of my readers. Shopping sprees – yes please!! Now what is iherb again?

I soon found out that it’s an online reseller that carries close to 18,000 natural products, including vitamins, herbal supplements, skincare products, grocery items and more. This site is perfect for those living a healthy life style, especially if you have trouble finding specific items locally.  The website isn’t fancy, but it’s very well organized. They carry many products and brands (including many that I buy and use frequently) at competitive prices with free shipping for orders over $40.00.

The site also offers a non-commercial encyclopedia of nutritional and herbal supplements. And, the coolest part is that you can even type a symptom into the search engine, say Cold Sores or Urinary Tract Infection and the natural products to prevent or help with these type of problems or symptoms come right up.

So what did I get on my shopping spree?

Nativas Naturals Trail Power – Raw Antioxidant Trail Mix (goji, golden, and mulberries)

Woodstock Farms Organic Mango Slices

Source Naturals Daily Essential Enzymes

JASON Ester-C Creme

I recently read in one of the health/fitness magazines I get that vitamin c is one of the best things to use on your face for anti-aging so I was super excited to find this product on iherb. I’ve already started using it by applying it before I go to bed at night. I love the smell and the creaminess of this moisturizer. Here’s to hoping it brightens my face and gets rid of all my wrinkles- YES, I have wrinkles!?! Word of advice- wear sunscreen and stay out of the tanning beds. I’m regretting what I did in my high school days now.

Of course, I’ve already dug into the dried mango slices and the Trail Power – both of which are things I’ve had before and love.

So how do you win a $50.00 iherb Shopping Spree yourself?

To enter simply leave a comment with what you’d want to buy with your $50 by Thursday, January 28, 2010 12:00AM EST. As a note, I’m sorry but the giveaway is only open to US residents.

BUT, even if you don’t win you can still get $5.00 off your first iherb purchase by using the coupon code MUL327

The working day is over- I’m off to the gym and then coming home for pita pizzas. I’ll share my eats with you next time. Until then, let me know what you’d get on your shopping spree!!

Weekend Haps and Superfruit winners

by eatingbirdfood on June 14, 2009

This weekend has been a whirlwind of non stop studying. Isaac is getting ready to head to the Maryland/DC area for the summer this Monday (boo-hiss) for Montessori Training. Needless to say, he has A LOT of projects to turn in next week so he’s been working his tush off, and I have been studying for my mid-term on Monday. I hadn’t really said anything on the blog, but I am taking an online Nutrition course at a local school. Can I just say that taking college courses, after having 2 years off is HARD, especially when you are working full time… whew! Despite all the school work going on we did manage to relax a bit. Here are some highlights…

Friday night dinner consisted of zucchini pasta with left over sauce per Isaac’s mid week pasta creation. Love that he keeps his sauce vegetarian and doesn’t mix it in with the noodles. I would tell you what was in his pasta sauce if I knew, but I wasn’t home when he made it so I don’t really know. I do know that it was SPICY! After eating this I was feeling hot, hot, hot!

P.S. I don’t soak or boil my vegetable noodles, just julienne, top, and eat!

Breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday morning looked like this… the infamous Chia Seed Oats with banana cooked right in and a little Better N’ PB on side. For some reason the bananas aren’t this viewable in other oatmeal pics I taken, but I love how you can really see the bananas in this one.

As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve started to reclaim my love for Better N PB (BNPB) and I pretty much eat a spoonful with my oats every morning. For those of you who haven’t seen this product before here’s a mug shot and if you feel inclined- check out my review.

In other news, I finally got my butt in gear on a Saturday morning and went to the South of the James @ Forest Hill Farmers Market. This little journey meant that I skipped my usual Saturday morning spin class, but I think it was well worth it. There were lots of booths with crafts, local made food products, samples, and of course, VEGETABLES. I got some locally grown produce (a bag of spring mix, a round and 2 regular yellow zucchini, a cucumber, and gorgeous flowers).

How lovely is this zucchini?

And only $5.00 for this custom made bouquet.

Amy, who was making the bouquets, was totally sweet and if you live in or near Richmond, her flowers are now available at Ellwood Thompson’s.

Last but not least, I’m sure your wondering who won the The Crofter’s Superfruit Spread Giveaway!! Well, the giveaway was was a big hit and lots of people were interested in trying their unique flavors.
