Chocolate for B-fast

by eatingbirdfood on December 2, 2008

I switched up my oats a bit this morning and added 1/2 scoop of Designer Whey protein- so the end recipe looked like this:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • almost 1 cup of water, with a smidge of hemp milk
  • 1/2 banana

I cooked that for about 5 minutes on high and when it was getting thick and sticking to the bottom of the pot I turned off the heat and stirred in 1/2 scoop of the protein powder. I’m not sure but for some reason I feel that heat might be bad for protein powder… does anyone know?? Anyhow, I forgot to mix in the ground flax so I just sprinkled some on top. Chocolate for breakfast in a healthy way!

Isaac on the other hand also had chocolate for b-fast in the form of 2 chocolate pop tarts – they were organic, I’ll give him that, but not quite what I call a healthy b-fast.

Speaking of which, one day at Whole Foods I overheard a lady who was buying organic cheese puffs talking and said to her friend “I love shopping at Whole Food’s because they have the best tasting stuff and if it’s from here its gotta be healthy.” I agree they do have the best tasting stuff, but NEWS FLASH lady. Even though those cheese puffs are organic doesn’t exactly mean they are healthy. Just throwing that out there.

isearch.week2

by eatingbirdfood on July 21, 2008

The title is my attempt at combing Apples’ “i”thing revolution with my lack of a job and the search that is taking place. I know, I’m just so creative. So creative that I had the same breakfast I have had more than 20 times in the past 2 months: Oats with 1/2 banana stirred in, toasted walnuts, raisins and flax on top.

Then for lunch I got really crazy and made a BLT with veggie bacon. I haven’t had a BLT in quite a while -it was pretty delicious. The toast kind of cut the roof of my mouth though… ouch.

Thanks for all the sweet comments about my job search. It really does help having this blog, it provides  a place for me to talk, not only about food, but my feelings. I also feel this strong sense of friendship and support from other bloggers, which I think is a really cool thing considering I haven’t met any of you all and I still feel as though I have a ton of new friends.

I’m off to continue the search!
