Health Warrior Chia Bar (Giveaway)

As you all know, I love my chia seeds! I’ve actually done a whole post on the benefits of eating chia seeds, but as a quick reminder: they’re a good source of omega 3 fatty acids, protein (plant based), antioxidants, fiber, magnesium and potassium. They’re also super versatile. What’s not to love?

Hmmm… maybe the fact that they get stuck in your teeth… oh well, I still love them!

Recently I was asked to try out some chia bars from a local company called Health Warrior. <– I think it’s so cool that there’s a natural food company selling chia seeds and chia seed bars right  here in Richmond! First Sabra hummus, now Health Warrior chia, who knows what food product is next.

The bars come in three flavors (coconut, acai berry and chocolate peanut butter).

coconut health warrior chia bar

I’ve tried all three flavors. Each one is soft and chewy with a hint of sweetness, but the coconut chia bars are definitely my favorite. They’re moist with a rich coconut flavor, like a healthy samoa (without the chocolate). I’m a huge fan!!!

I also like the fact that the bars are portable. Sometimes I forget to add chia seeds to my meals so it’s cool to have a chia seed snack I can take on-the-go! I brought a couple to work and put them in my desk drawer so whenever I need a snack I can just grab one. And don’t be fooled by their small size – they’re quite filling and perfect for that mid-day slump.

The acai berry is next on my favorites list and then the chocolate peanut butter. If you know me, you’d automatically assume the peanut butter would be my favorite (I love all things pb), but this bar was kind of dry and the peanut butter flavor just wasn’t there. I’d eat it in a pinch but the coconut is so much better.

In terms of nutrition, all the bars are 100-110 calories and contain 1000mg Omega 3, 4g dietary fiber, 3g plant-based protein and 5 critical antioxidants. They’re also gluten, dairy and soy free, 100% vegan and 100% natural. The ingredient lists aren’t very long and the sugars are pretty low as well, both of which are things I pay close attention to when it comes to bars.

The best part about all this? Health Warrior is willing to give away 3 boxes (one of each flavor) of their bars + a Health Warrior t-shirt to one EBF reader!! Simply leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite way to eat chia seeds. If you haven’t had chia seeds before, just let me know why you’d like to try the Health Warrior bars.

If you don’t win, not to worry – you can still try the bars! They’re available at Whole Foods, Amazon and on their website. Oh and they’re actually hosting a “marathon sale” right now in light of the NYC Marathon – 2 boxes (15 bars each) of chia bars for $26.20 (usually $23.50 for one box). That’s less than .87 a bar! Just enter the code “CHIASALE” at checkout.

Happy Thirsty Thursday! Fill your water bottle and drink up. :)

This stuff is super filling and has a more superior amino acid profile than conventinal meat on the market. Although I still consume some fish, chicken, and eggs, Chia seeds are great in the morning because they are real easy to make meals (especially with oats) and are pretty damn tasty and filling. Another thing it helps things move more smoothly, if you know what I mean . Overall its a super great food and I’m glad I put it in my diet and with enough hard work it will supply me some serious building material for my bodybuilding gains! Great Stuff!

  405. I would love to try these. I have a friend who swears by them and I would love to give them a try.

  406. I love Chia seeds in my smoothies/protein drinks…..very energizing!!

  407. I have not tried chia seeds but I would like to. I’m trying to cut back on meat and using chia seeds sounds like a good alternative for a protein-based food. I would love to win the chia bars and will probably try them whether I win or not.

  408. Chia pudding made with almond milk and cocoa

Found a Groupon deal and got the two flavors offered, Coconut, Chocolate PB; I have to hide the coconut ones from my wife or I won’t get any. These little bars say with you and work well for runners.

  412. I love chia seeds in EVERYTHING! From just chia seeds with coconut milk, cacao powder, pomegranates, coconut shavings & honey to Korean bibimbop. I even give some to my kitty cat. Also adding it to oatmeal, smoothie, yogurt… list goes on! : )

  413. Hi, so I was just wondering if you recommend these bars then? Also, I am curious if you know about access exercise bars and whether they are healthy or not? Thanks!

  414. I have just heard about “chia seeds”. I am anxious to try them in some form. Are the bars generally available in health food store? Will you share a link for purchase of the bars

  415. I found a recipe for no-bake energy bites on Pinterest. I added chia seeds on my own. They are peanut butter, honey, oats, and chia seeds. They look like meatballs. Very easy to make, and my kids loved them. So if you can’t find the bars, I bet making the energy bites would be similar in energy and nutrition.

  416. I love chia bars. I eat them while drinking my smoothie with chia seeds also. I put chia seeds in my oatmeal.

Dr. Oz says we should be eating chia seeds daily! The benefits of chia seeds is news to me and I can benefit in so many ways! I am registered for my first marathon run this spring before I turn 50! I have had stress fractures in the past and I am super conscious about my calcium and iron intake so including chia seeds in my diet sounds like an easy fix. I would love to take some bars on my long runs!! Wish me luck!
