Isaac made dinner tonight!
Recently I was going through old blog posts and stumbled upon a miso glazed salmon recipe I made over a year ago and put it on the to-make-again-soon list. Isaac was up for being a chef tonight so I handed the recipe over to him and while I was busy after work he broiled the salmon and made a salad with garden fresh veggies, quinoa and a balsamic vinaigrette.
I was impressed…

The miso glaze was just as good as I remembered it and the salmon was perfect served right on top of the salad. Definitely a keeper – both the recipe and the chef.
During dinner, there was a knock at the door and a package full of local goodies from The Farm Table was left on our doorstep.
The Farm Table is a network of neighbors here in Richmond that hand-deliver boxes of produce straight from local farmers to homes or offices during the harvest season (May-November). I first heard about the group at the Meatless Gourmet cook off and was excited when they contacted me and asked if I’d like to receive one of their Chef boxes to see first hand what they offer.

Just look at the goods!
And don’t mind the half eaten loaf of bread – Isaac decided to dig in before I could snap a photo.

This week’s Chef Box included corn, new red potatoes, squash, tomatoes, blueberries, plums, rustic bread and local grits. As you can see, everything arrived looking absolutely perfect!
I’m not certain exactly where each item of produce came from because The Farm Table sources from several local farms, however I do know it’s all local. And here’s what I do know – the bread came from The Flower Garden bakery, the grits were made at Byrd Mill and the blueberries were from Swift Creek Berry Farm.

Fresh, locally grown berries – yes please!
Just as Isaac did with the bread, I dug straight into the blueberries. I had a few by the handful and then made dessert with vanilla yogurt, the fresh plums and blueberries.

This little snack was delicious! The plums were just as fresh and sweet as the blueberries. I probably could have eaten 2 more bowls, but I decided I needed to save some fruit for tomorrow’s breakfast.
Speaking of which, tomorrow’s Friday – HOORAY! Have a great night.

PS your breakfast looks delish!
Hey! I live in Richmond, and am moving to the museum district in about two weeks, so I’m assuming the Farm Table would deliver to my apartment – what time does the delivery usually come? I just wouldn’t want all that delicious food to be left on the steps of my apartment if I wasn’t there.
I think the deliveries come at different times, however I do know that you can leave a cooler out for the delivery so your items won’t go bad. I’d recommend contacting the Farm Table and asking the details though. Everyone there is really nice and I’m sure they’d do their best to work with your schedule.
What a great idea! I wonder if we have something like that locally… I will have to look into it!
Definitely look into, I bet most areas have something similar!
Wow, such beautiful produce!
You’ve convinced me to start getting fresh produce at my door!!
