Hi from sunny South Carolina! It’s actually quite cold, wet and windy, but luckily the condo is cozy and the resort has a nice workout area, an indoor pool and hot tub! <– Fun times ahead for sure.
I mentioned my Nanny’s Christmas Crescent Cookies a few posts back and today I have the family recipe to share with you!

Nanny’s Christmas Crescent Cookies
These buttery cookies are have a limited amount of ingredients but taste incredible. For me, Christmas isn’t Christmas without these cookies.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened (make them vegan by using Earth Balance Vegan Buttery Sticks)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups grated pecans
- 5 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp water
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar for rolling
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 325°
- Cream together the butter, sugar, vanilla and water until fluffy.
- Mix flour and salt together in a separate bowl and gently stir into the butter mixture.
- Stir in pecans.
- Roll tablespoons of the dough into a log and then shape into a crescent shape.
- Bake at 325° for 20 minutes, cool cookies for 5-10 minutes and roll them in a bowl of powdered sugar while they’re still a bit warm.
- Cool and enjoy!
And, here’s the woman behind the recipe and tradition – my mom’s mom aka Nanny!

If you’re looking for a crowd pleasing cookie recipe, try my Nanny’s Crescent Cookies! I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Enjoy your Sunday! I’ll be back in the morning with a winner for the MPG giveaway.
I will also mention that this recipe is one of my submissions to the Earth Balance Holiday Bakeoff. The cookie submissions are due today, but the cake category starts next week. Home bakers are invited to submit their original holiday recipes on the website for a chance to win a $400 Whole Foods Market gift card, a year’s supply of Earth Balance products and an opportunity to have their recipe featured on WholeFoodsMarket.com.

Glad you arrived in SC safely. Awww, Nanny’s cookies are always the best!
Aw, what a sweet recipe.
We make similar cookies but with hazelnuts- they’re my great-grandmother’s! They’re not my favorite on the cookie plate, but warm from the oven…oh my God, bliss.

I love South Carolina!
Before I came to Korea my husband and I did a road trip down through
New York, Washington, North and South Carolina. We spent time in
Myrtle Beach and Charleston. Loved it!
So sweet! There’s nothing better than family recipes around the holidays
Yum, yum, yum! Those cookies sound awesome!
I just had to tell you I made these last night for my holiday baking and they turned out AMAZING! Some friends of mine always had cookies similar to this made by their grandmother, and I had to see if they were as good. They are way better, and very easy. I will be making these as a staple to my baking from now on, so thanks for sharing such a wonderful recipe
