Juice Party

by Eating Bird Food on August 11, 2010

What’s a girl to do when she gets a juicer for her birthday?? Buy lots of fruit and veggies and throw a juice party, DUH?

My friend Barbara (Hi lady!!) did just that and I was super pumped to take part in the fun.

There were kiwis.

Pineapple and carrots.

Pears and peaches.

Beets and oranges.

Strawberries and apples.

Grapes.

Plus pretty mugs and vases. ( I think I need both of these!?!)

We made every concoction you could think of using the ingredients shown above, but I ended up with a carrot, apple, peach, beet, pineapple, and orange juice. It was DE-LICIOUS!!

The best part about going to the juice party is that it  inspired me to pull out my own juicer and put it to good use. I haven’t just yet, but I’m sure I will in the next few days. Maybe I’ll make some carrot cake juice. Or maybe I’ll try something new and exciting.

Do you all have any suggestions? Do you juice? What are your fav combinations?

I just got a juicer too! I love it, but am still playing around – especially because I don’t want anything that tastes too much like vegetables. :) I really like apple, carrot, beet, lemon, and ginger combo!

You know, I go through phases. I’m either juicing daily, or I’m making a green smoothie daily. It’s been green smoothies of late but these gorgeous pix have inspired me to pull out the juicer this morning!

I juice but not with major regularity, my body craves it at certain times and then wants nothing to do with it.

I love all sorts of combos but these two are my fav, I always add lemon, I don’t like green juice without it.

romaine, cukes, carrots, apple, lemon
beets, apple, carrots, lemon

I love beet juice but hate beets. Strange, eh?

That’s such a fun idea! My husband, who generally hates anything healthy, is strangely into buying a juicer. I’m just not sure how much I’ll use it seeing as counter space is in short supply in my kitchen and lesser-used appliances are relegated to the Land of No Return. That juice sounds so good though.

Makes me want to buy a juicer! Green lemonades are my favorite- a lot of lemon, carrots, celery, kale, cucumber, yum!

Wow, that was definitely the healthiest party around! Great idea, there is nothing as good as fresh juice. :)

I’ll make fresh juice a few days in a row, and then I won’t make juice for a month. For me, it never quite tastes right, and then I feel like I wasted a ton of fruit and veggies!

I would be interested in a carrot cake juice though, that sounds delicious!

Oh my gosh that sounds like the perfect thing to do on a summer night. My dad has a juicing book that he never uses. Maybe I’ll “borrow” it and we can get together and see what looks good to us :D

XOXO see you soon!!!

p.s. as I was putting my breakfast together I thought of you! I thought of the comment you left me hehehe, and how awesome that would be :D

LOL, I did the SAME thing when I got my Vitamix…making all kinds of concoctions!! It was great!! I used to juice for a years, then when we moved, I had no counter space for it–it’s huge, one of the older models from like 5 years ago…now I have the Vitamix so I don’t really need both. Have a small wheat grass juicer but it makes a mess!

Thanks for finding me!! Your blog is great!!

I love my juicer! I’ve been trying all kinds of combination’s and love so many of them, but right now I am into spinach, apple, celery, ginger. I love getting those greens! I must try your carrot cake juice though…that sounds amazing. And what a great idea for a party!

I cannot get over how cute you are! I loved seeing all the fresh produce that you were going to blend away. I want to get a juicer so badly, and seeing your post has only increased my desire.

I used to juice all the time and loved it. I have not juiced in awhile. I like juicing beets, carrots, kale, cucumbers, oh the list could go on. HAHA

I personally prefer smoothies to juices because I like chugging whole fruits and veggies down. On the other hand… juicer pulp can make wonders! Breads, cookies, bars, etc. What’d you guys do with the pulp? Hope it didn’t go to waste. ;)

I love juice! I love my juice really, really cold and out of a wine glass. Just makes it all the more fun. To me, it’s all about the balance between heavy and light juices. For instance, beet and carrot are both very thick and creamy, where as cucumber is light and refreshing. I try to balance it out, depending on the temperature and what I am craving. I often add a little herbs, too, for the nutritional benefit as well as taste. I love basil, mint, parsley, cilantro and ginger and sometimes even horseradish. I make bloody marys from scratch using lots of herbs and fresh tomatoes.

So much beautiful produce! I don’t have a juicer, so I’ll just have to live vicariously through you:)

I have a juicer though I don’t realy consider myself a juicing nut (I don’t consider it any healthier than eating raw fruit/veggies). I am very simple and boring. I like watermelon juice, straight up. In the middle of the summer I find it sooooo hydrating, especially if I’ve been out drinking the night before.

I have a new love for my juicer. My favorite is Granny Smith apple, carrot and kale.
