Normally I keep the content on EBF happy, uplifting and (hopefully) inspiring, but these last few weeks have been really tough. Huge family related issues have been on my mind (the type of stuff that if I told you, you wouldn’t believe me). And, despite physical therapy, the tingling sensation in my leg doesn’t seem to be getting better. I know I’m suppose to be taking it easy and resting but it’s HARD. Working out not only strengthens my body physically but it does great things for me mentally as well. Not being able to work out like I want is eating at me, stressing me out, and making me a grouch.
So.. I went to yoga on Tuesday evening, after all the PT said that yoga would be good. Well, now that it’s all said and done, I think the Heated Power Vinyasa class was a little much. My leg is actually feeling worse than it’s ever felt – with pain and weird hip pulling, not just tingling. Blah.
On the other hand, I loved the new studio I visited and once my body returns to normal I definitely want to take more classes there. For all you Richmoners – the studio I went to is called Om On Yoga. It’s ridiculously cute, clean and full of friendly staff members. Plus they sell yoga clothes – including Lululemon. This made me smile.
Back to me- my motivation levels are low and I’m not even feeling that inspired in the kitchen (I know, it’s sad). We’ve been eating leftovers and simple meals that aren’t really blog worthy so since I don’t have a ton of content for you today, I thought I would share a few links I found interesting while surfing the web:

Sorry for being such a Debbie Downer… tonight I’m attending a demo on making homemade kombucha. I do love me some kombucha so hopefully that will cheer me up!
I hope you have a great Thursday.

That looks like a really cute studio– I may have to check that one out soon! Do you usually buy individual classes or buy a package of classes?
I hope you feel better soon– things always have a way of working themselves out for the better sooner or later.
I’m really sorry that you are going through such a tough time now Brit, but I definitely applaud you for being so honest about it and not “faking it” on the blog. I really hope that things turn around soon and I’m looking forward to seeing you on Monday!
Oh my dear, I know exactly what you mean. I was going through some family stuff and it was hard because I was physically there and it just got so stressful. But now I’m up here, and the troubles are still there… but it’s a lot easier when I don’t have to be there, you know? I hope the clouds start parting ways and let the sun shine in your life. Keep the love in your heart, and keep close the love that you receive from those around you
XOXO feel better!
Nothing lasts forever. Are there any upper body exercises that you could try? That way you can still get your mood boost for the day and not agrivate your injury. Here are some ideas: http://www.3fatchicks.com/7-upper-body-cardio-workouts/
Oh hang in there girl! Everyone goes through down times so just try to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s so stupid to say that but you know you’ll get through it! It’s just a matter of time and determination. And I hope it starts turning around soon!
Sorry you are having a tough time; I hope everything starts to get better! I think one of the hard things about blogging is when there are family issues you don’t/can’t talk about it feels like you are having to keep a secret. I’m trying to think good thoughts about my shin today (I didn’t stretch enough before my run and it hurts in a worrisome way) and I’ll throw in some thoughts for your hip too!
Rest is tough, especially with so much going on. Hang in there, and hopefully things will work themselves out soon! What about swimming to get some exercise in? You could use a pull buoy (the floaty things in between your legs) so you didn’t kick and get a good upper body workout in. **hugs**
I know what you mean about not wanting to be a debbie-downer on the blog, but please don’t even worry about that! You are *always* so upbeat and positive, but there are always going to be not-so-hot chapters in life. Sending hugs your way! xoxo
I know exactly how you feel — it’s always tough when working out is forced to take the backburner. Hopefully things will clear up for you soon!
Oh, and I have Alicia Silverstone’s Kind Diet book and she loves kombucha, I was skeptical at first, but I tried the Yogi green tea kombucha and it wasn’t bad, so I think I’ll try out some of the juices you mentioned in that other post.
Sorry to hear you feel worse after yoga Brittany — that is tough.
Don’t feel like a Debbie Downer — you are entitled to your feelings! I hope you feel better soon.
Appreciate your honesty — I always think it makes bloggers more accessible and real when they’re open about just not feeling 100%. I think we can all relate to what you’re describing, in one way or another!
I hope you feel better soon!
So sorry you’re going through some rough times, but we all do! Don’t worry about expressing your feelings on the blog… thats what blogs are for!
I hope your leg gets better and everything pulls through for you. You are strong, you’ll make it through!
And as always if you need anything you can always email
xo

Well, first, I am so sorry that you have been going through some rough times. Life always seems to throw us a few curve balls here and there but just remember, no matter how difficult things seem, we are never given anything that we can’t handle. Keep strong love! I know what you mean though about feeling frustrated with not being able to workout. I went through this same frustration when I was recovering from illness early this year. It’s so hard because it not only works on your body but your mind as well. The thing that helped me was to remember that this was truly a time to rest my body and I was able to explore and work on other areas to enrich my mind, like reading, writing and cooking.
Sorry to hear about your family issues
If anything, take solace in the fact that you have a warm audience in the blog world who is here to support you.
I know how hard it is to take rest when fitness is such a staple in your life – I’ve been there myself. Have you thought about meditating or deep breathing? There are lots of routines out there, that done in place of a workout every morning, can do wonders for your soul.
Don’t feel bad about feeling bad. If you never felt bad, then how would you know what happy feels like?
I agree that it is hard to take it easy, especially if you are an active person. Maybe you should check with your physical therapist again about what exercises you can do and what else you can do at home to get you leg back to how it was before. Have you tried Inflatrol yet? Some people swear by Biofreeze also; its like Ben-Gay but much stronger.
I have days like this, and it was so refreshing to hear your honesty. I know how hard it can be to rest when exercise and activity offers so much mental therapy. But these challenges will make you stronger and better able to handle the stresses of life. You are an amazing woman and I know that things will improve soon!
So sorry to hear about the family stuff–I hope it all gets better soon! Hang in there!
I was injured last summer and it was awful, I think my hubby wanted to kill me (or himself)! It was a rough few months but things finally improved when I really did rest–I hope the same works for you!
Thanks for the great link “best workout for your body shape” I really liked looking at that. I hope that things get better for you, being in a funk is no fun
Sometimes buying fresh flowers is a nice treat!
Hang in there! We’ll still be here when you are feeling more like yourself again!
i’m sorry you’re going through a rough patch right now
don’t feel bad about being honest, though. it’s your blog!!
feel better soon, love
Hope you leg gets better fast and soon! Sending lots of good energy your way and hugs! Yay for making your own kombucha and taking a lesson. You will love it, and it is really easy to do. IF you have questions let us know!
Sorry you are having a rough time. I am sure everything will be okay soon, and if not, you can always make that kombucha a little on the strong side.
sorry you’re going thru a hard time right now – big hug!!!
