Does anyone remember the Little Caesar’s Pizza Pizza promo where you could go into the store and get a prize if you said “Pizza Pizza” at the counter? Please don’t tell me I am the only one that did this as a child. Anyhow, I don’t think I’ve been to a Little Caesar’s in at least 15 years, but I still have a love for pizza deep down in my heart, only now I make it at home and include lots of my favorite veggies (more on that later).
First thing first, I whipped up a new oatmeal topping recently – let’s just call it PB Drizzle (sounds kind of like a new Rap artist, no?)
I had a bowl of overnight oats ready to munch on and really wanted some pb on it. Most of my nut butters are stored in the fridge and often times they come out quite hard and cold so I had a grand idea to add a little water (1/2 Tablespoon) to a bit of peanut butter (approx. 1 Tablespoon), pop it in the microwave for 15 seconds, stir it up, and drizzle it on my overnight oats. PB Drizzle Perfection!
Other random eats include Fakin Bacon tempeh BLT wraps.
Love these!! I think I’ve had at least 3 over the course of 3 days.
And back to the pizza, tonight for dinner I had a craving for zee za’ so I hopped over to the store and purchased a few necessary ingredients – crust, the stuff for tomato sauce and shrooms. I wanted it to be quick and easy (twss) so I bought a Boboli 12″ 100% Whole Wheat Thin Crust (using a coupon the company sent me), a bag of part skim mozzarella cheese, and organic tomato sauce/paste to whip up a super simple pizza sauce. The other toppings included a CSA red onion and backyard tomato/ basil babies.
Easy Pizza Sauce
(easily sauces 2 full pizzas)
- 1 (15 oz) can of tomato sauce
- 1 (6 oz) can of tomato paste
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- sea salt and ground pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients together and spread onto pizza dough.
I served myself two slices of the pizza and small salad with CSA greens, red onion, shrooms, edamame, and goddess dressing on the side.
The remaining slices of the pizza were enjoyed by Isaac and his dad. I loved the pizza and they both complimented me on how great it tasted was so I’ll say it was a winner! The crust was a perfect combination of crispy and chewy and it wasn’t too thin! I’d definitely buy the Boboli 100% Whole Wheat thin crust again.
On another note a friend and I were talking about making our own pizza dough and bread on Sunday. I’ve actually never done either, but have been told by many people that it’s super easy! I think I need to get on the bandwagon and make some myself! Do you have tips for me before I try my hand at it?
Alright, my belly is full now so I’m off to start packing. I have a 7am flight to catch for work tomorrow as I’m headed to a conference in Orlando for 2 days.
