I mentioned a while ago that when I was in CA I had the pleasure of trying an addicting little product called SeaSnax. The friend I was visiting is currently working for the company and demos the product at health food stores in in the Los Angeles area. So what exactly is it?

Well basically it’s just roasted seaweed sheets that are made using 100% olive oil and a pinch of sea salt. The craziest part is that even people who say they don’t like nori have said that they liked the taste of this!!
You can eat them plain, make rice rolls, crush them up and add some to soup, salad, or even pizza. <– YUP, we did that!!

I’m not evening pulling your leg, this homemade pizza with TJ’s herbed crust was the best pizza ever. The combo of roasted beets, onions, spinach, kale, tomatoes, pineapple, and SeaSnax was remarkable. Yum! I need to make this again ASAP.

Needless to say, I snacked on SeaSnax a great deal while in CA.. We were given a packet to bring back so I’ve been enjoying them since I’ve been home as well. The best part is that they totally satisfy a salty/crunch craving without many calories (only 20 calories per sheet) and also contain plenty of nutrients from the seaweed (most notably vitamins B5 and B12). I’m a snacker so having something light to munch on when I’m not really starving is definitely a good idea and these babies totally fit the bill.
SeaSnax is an up and coming company so they have limited distribution for stores right now (mainly CA, NY, CT, FL, MA & OR), but you can also order them online. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the company. She such a sweet and fun women so SeaSnax is definitely a company I want to support as they grow.
Do you like seaweed? I personally LOVE seaweed salad at Japanese restaurants – I could eat bowls of the stuff.
Have you tried SeaSnax or a seaweed snack product before? What did you think?

what a perfect name too, sea snax! i love seaweed as well. i think theres a period in the beginning where u have to get used to it but its pretty addictive after awhile. have u tried wakame or arame? really delicious too! kombu is another one that good. also great for your thyroid too:)
hi Kelsey,
I’m a big seaweed fan. I have tried dulse, and wakame (I’m pretty sure wakame is in seaweed salad) and kombu is an awesome addition when you are boiling your own beans. It helps them cook faster and renders them more digestible due to the high mineral content. (less gas!!)
my grandma bought me a huge pack of dried DULSE….oh I think it’s kinda nasty. Maybe I just don’t know what to do with it…i suppose I could try it on some pizza or something..but its oh so SALTY..and bitter..does it leave a huge bitter taste if you cook with it or put it in something???…cause the taste of mine is bitter and salty.
To be honest, the first time I tried dulse I thought it was gross as well. I washed it per the package directions. It got slimy and I didn’t enjoy the texture. Now I use it dry on salads or in homemade salad dressings. I don’t use a ton though because as you said- it’s super salty.
My Korean aunt introduced me to the wonders of seaweed snacks–they’re the perfect potato-chip-like treat!
