Well Stocked

by Eating Bird Food on February 23, 2010

Remember when I mentioned that Whole Foods was having buy one, get one free GT & SNERGY Drinks last week? Well, let’s just say I stocked up. :)

Actually, Isaac’s Dad was stopping by WF last Friday and he picked them up for me. I must note that he did an excellent job and got every flavor I requested! What a guy. The best part, he even bought some for himself. I made sure to watch him drink his first sip because well, we all know that sometimes it’s not love at first sip when it comes to kombucha. But, guess what? He tried the Divine Grape and really liked it!! YAY!

I’m also well stocked in the Brown Rice ‘n Beans “Jumble-aya” department so I’ve been eating it for the past few days.

I loooved the flavor and combo of ingredients in this recipe – yet another tasty dish from Eat, Drink and Be Vegan. I adore this cookbook, in case you couldn’t tell. ;) The only complaint I have with this recipe is that it took much longer to fully cook the rice than the 45 minutes listed in the cookbook and I also had to add a lot more liquid in order for the rice not to burn. Has anyone else made this one? Did you have the same problemo?

After a quick, but sweaty gym visit this morning I came home and whipped up a batch of chia seed oats. I was scraping out the last of my Better N’ PB and realized it was about that time to make some OIAJ (Oats in a Jar).

I just love how OIAJ allows you to have a little nut butter in every bite. If only I had an empty jar of nut butter every morning I could make this on the daily – that would be a dream come true. :)

In the jar:

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup h20
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 drops of liquid stevia
  • cinnamon
  • the last of the Better N PB (about 1 tbsp.)

I ate more jumble-aya for lunch but mixed things up by adding a few slices of raw plantain. Once the outside of a plantain is completely black the fruit itself is soft, sweet, and perfectly fine to eat raw.

I loved the sweetness that the plantain added. Yum!

Mid-afternoon snack included a Kombucha and 1/2 of a Tropical Fruit Tart LARABAR.

I really like this flavor! It’s almost tied with my favorites- Coconut Cream Pie and Peanut Butter and Jelly. I know I’ve said before that it’s almost impossible to eat only half of a bar, but if you take one half to work and leave the other at home, it’s pretty easy. :)

In other more exciting news Sasha, The Clean Eating Mama, gave me an award. More specifically the Sunshine Award!

The sunshine award is awarded to bloggers whose positivity and creativity inspire others in the blog world.

Sasha – Thank you so much, you giving me this award brought a ray of sunshine to my day and a huge smile to my face!! I am honored to receive this award as I can only hope that inspire others by this little blog.

I’m off to make some yummy Indian soup for dinner and hang out with my love-pie. See you soon!

I am still nervous to try Kombucha but you have given me a bit more courage. Next time I see it on sale, it’s going in the cart! :)

And I think I may have a near empty jar of PB in the pantry. Hmmm, OIAJ tomorrow…YES PLEASE!!!

Glad you are having a great week Brittany! :)

I’m in love with kombucha now. Definitely jealous of the 2 for 1 sale at your Whole Foods. My Whole Foods definitely did not offer that deal :-(

Congrats on your award! You definitely deserve it. (I am so close to my first attempt at OIAJ (BNPB!) that it is almost painful! Thank you for the idea there.)

I got ED&BV for Christmas, and I have yet to use it yet! That situation must be remedied ASAP! ;)

I love Kombucha, too! Mystic Mango is my favorite flavor, but I have to be careful when I drink it– even just half seems to give me a buzz! Ha ha.

I haven’t tried the synergy drinks yet! I’ve seen them all over ill have to try them.
I love love love oats in a jar! I think I could have that for breakfast every morning too if I had a unlimited supply of almost empty nut jars! Putting bananas and flaxseed and then letting it sit for a few minutes is my favorite :)
