A Day of Good Friends. New and Old.

November 21, 2009

Yesterday started like any other, with a morning gym visit and a bowl of oats. Only it was quite different, as I woke up super early (5:15AM), I was in a hotel bed and work started at 7:30 instead of 9:00- so not really normal per se. When leaving my hotel room I said to [...]

The Office

November 17, 2009

I’ve been thinking a lot about office jobs and how they can affect your health. Think about the normal circumstances for most individuals that work in an office based 9-5. They sit at a desk for 8 hours a day staring at a computer, more than likely eat snacks and lunch at their desk, and [...]

Homemade Pumpkin Butter and Yoga

November 15, 2009

IMG_2497.JPG Maria’s Homemade Microwave Pumpkin Butter Scant 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup water 1/2 teaspoon allspice 1/4 teaspoon ginger 1/4 teaspoon clove 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1 1/2 cups (15 oz) canned pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling mix) ** The above measurements are approximations. … I incorporated the P butter into breakfast with a slice of toast. IMG_2501.JPG And because I can’t find the Stonyfield Pumpkin Pie yogurt anywhere here in Richmond, Va I decided to create my own Oikos Pumpkin parfait. IMG_2496.JPG   okiosparfait.jpg IMG_2494.JPG Pumpkin Parfait 1/4 cup Ezekiel golden flax cereal 1 container (5.3 oz) plain Oikos Greek yogurt 1 tablespoon pumpkin butter (homemade or store bought) 1/4 cup Kashi Go Lean cereal Layer all ingredients in the order they are listed into a nice parfait glass.

November 13, 2009

The lovely Stephanie told me about a lavender farm right outside the city of Richmond that has “Cooking with Herb” classes. I went to their website to check it out and sure enough they do have cooking classes (which I so want to attend) but they also have recipes! Lots of them looked really good, [...]
