Wining and Blogging

How’s it going party people? I’m doing grand for a Saturday night – drinking a glass of Spanish red wine and just finished eating some cottage cheese- strange combo I know, but I needed some protein in my life.

This was my first time trying Rachel’s Cottage Cheese. I’m not going to lie, the main reason that I was enticed to buy it because it was on sale at Kroger. Plus it has the words “Wickedly Delicious” on the package so you pretty much can’t go wrong. You probably should check out the website because the kaleidoscope opener is pretty sweet.

To be honest, maybe I’m lacking some taste buds but I didn’t really taste the red peppers. I could see that red peppers were in there but I could only really taste the saltiness of the cottage cheese. It was still good, but not overly flavorful in the red pepper department. I bought 2 other flavors – the cucumber and dill and the pear mangosteen so we’ll see how it goes.

Paired with the red wine. Perfect dinner. I’m only teasing, but really I snacked all day and wasn’t very hungry for dinner so this is basically snack number 15 of the day.

Earlier I did have a real lunch of kale covered with a balsamic salad.

The cucumber, tomato balsamic salad sort of happened haphazardly last night. I had 2 tomatoes and 1 large cucumber from Isaac’s family’s garden that needed to be use so I threw the ingredients listed below into a bowl and let it marinate overnight.

  • raw corn of the cob
  • tomato
  • spring onion
  • cucumber
  • balsamic vinegar
  • stevia
  • S & P

It turned out to be quite delicious. When I make it again I’ll be sure to measure out the ingredients so I can actually call it a recipe :)

I also had a real breakfast! You guessed it, another tasty purple smoothie. Same combo as the past 4 mornings, only this time I didn’t have to put it in a to-go cup and run out the door to work. Sitting on one of my favorites SELF Magazine.

After breakfast I had to take my car to get inspected- she passed! I fell asleep at Infiniti dealership while waiting for my car to finish. I couldn’t help it, they had comfy leather seats. After my little nap I headed to the gym. I had a great leg workout – day 4 from week 1 of the the summer-shape up. I can’t believe it’s almost over! I’ve saved all the workouts so I’ll definitely be doing them on my own.

I took this cute photo of Olive and I thought you all might like it.

Don’t let her fool you, she is not shy!

Well, my glass of wine is gone now…. time for a refill.

Hope everyone has a good night!

You know I’m a big cottage cheese fan but I still haven’t tried Rachel’s CC. If it’s still on sale, I may have to test it out!

FYI – if you’re ever in Detroit and need a puppy sitter, I’ll GLADLY watch that cutie pie ;) I’m in love!

Olive = too cute. And I agree with you about that cottage cheese! Seen & not tasted is not a good thing.

I really want to like cottage cheese, but I just don’t. I used to have it with canned peaches as a kid. I tolerated it but never loved it. Now I just can’t stand it.

Have you tried Rachel’s yogurts?

I liked most of the flavors of Rachel’s cottage cheese – except the one with cucumber and dill. That stuff was NASTY.
