Look Who's Back

by eatingbirdfood on July 15, 2009

I’ve been away for far too long and I’ve missed you all! I’ve been uber busy, which lead to a lack of photo taking, time for blogging and for reading other blogs. Boo-hiss, but it’s okay cause I’m BAAAACCCCKK!

I’m not going to live in the past too much because that would just be pointless so to sum up the weekend – I had a blast visiting Isaac. We went on his dream date Sunday – bike riding in Rock Creek Park and then a game of Ultimate Frisbee. I’ve watched plenty of Ultimate tournaments because Isaac played in college and has played on multiple leagues but this was my first time playing an actual game. It was a very lax game and not very competitive, but I scored a point!!!! Isaac was like a proud soccer mom. And I was happy because I was sweating up a storm- it was a great little workout.

After all the outdoor fun we headed to my good friends for a house warming party in Old Town Alexandria. They had delicious white and red sangria with brandy infused fruit. I had a couple glasses….

Here’s the very photogenic white sangria.

The red sangria was much less photogenic but just as tasty. The food was plentiful. But I was slacking on my photo taking and only got a picture of these kumquats because they were fun. IMG_1206.JPG

Did you know that you eat kumquats whole? They are tangy from the peel (skin), but oh so sweet on the inside. I loved them! Isaac tried one and had an hilarious puckered face, but I missed getting a photo of it. Are we seeing a trend here in my photo taking abilities… maybe I had one too many glasses of sangria!

After the shin-dig we headed home in food coma, studied, and hit the hay.

I worked from “home” in DC on Monday and tried to squeeze in a blogger lunch date with the lovely Quinn but I ended up having to head to my convention at the National Harbor in MD earlier than expected to get ready for a work party. I was bummed, but I’m sure there will be other chances for us to meet up!

Our company party went really well. Right as ours finished up, another party was getting started, so a few people from my company headed over to the Public House. I had the BEST drink ever- a Pineapple Infused Martini made with fresh pineapple and kettle one vodka! I forgot to mention that I depise martinis, however this one was so sweet and delicious, you couldn’t even taste the vodka- probably not such a good thing… haha but I only had one then switched to Chimay Red Ale. So fun!

Tuesday I worked the booth at the convention and then headed back to Richmond to pick up my love bug Olive! I

hadn’t worked out in two days so I was determined to workout today. And since I have plans to go to HARRY POTTER 6 TONIGHT I woke up early for an AM workout. 30 minutes on the stair mill and some abs. I rushed home to shower, got ready for work and ate breakfast. Breakfast ended up being a Cao-Pow Cacao Smoothie with some additional chia seeds!

It was fab-u-lous and very filling!

Lunch wasn’t nearly as healthy and consisted of Chex Mix and Stacy’s pita chips that were calling my name from the kitchen at work (opps!) So hopefully dinner will include some clean eats and veggies.

After a quick dinner I’ll be headed to the movies to see HP – can’t wait!!

Happy Hump Day!

Hey, Brittany! I am from the Maryland area (a suburb of Baltimore actually) and have lots of family in Old Town Alexandria. I live in Memphis now so I am jealous that you got to spend some time there…Good to hear you had a nice visit! Love your blog!
