Oh Happy Day

I am so excited because something SPECTACULAR arrived in the mail.

My very own:

Woo-hoo I’m a proud owner of a food dehydrator!!  You should have seen me when it arrived- I looked like an child on Christmas morning. I was so ecstatic.  Let me count the reasons.

  • We have herbs growing on our back deck and it will perfect to dry them for hibernation the winter months.
  • I’ve been reading/hearing a lot about raw recipes for crackers, fruit leathers, etc. that require a dehydrator. Basically there are a ton of things I can’t wait to make with my new kitchen gadget.
  • I love dried fruit (which feeds my slight addiction to trail mix). So of course, I’m excited to dry my own and make some snacks- oh la la, homemade trail mix.
  • I really want to make my own version of JUST PERSIMMONS because they are out of this world, but also $$$.

Last, but certainly not least (proven by the fact that it’s the first thing I thought to make) I am pumped that I can now recreate Gina’s Macaroons at home. I’m not sure this a good thing because from what I can tell, I am going to want to make them every other day. But of course, it’s a good thing because they so delicious!

In other news, my weekend went pretty well. I enjoyed my niece’s dance recital on Friday evening and relaxed in the warm weather on Saturday. Today I  made it to Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, went bowling, and ate macaroons all day. Pretty successful weekend if I do say so myself.  Hope yours was great as well!!

Oh my gosh! I am so excited for you – I remember how good your regular macaroons were, so I can only imagine that these are just as tasty!! What a fabulous weekend you had ;) Eating macaroons sounds like the perfect way to spend your days.

I loved the sweet potato heart in your last post. And salsa on eggs really is fabulous!

I hope you have a GREAT week!

Like everyone else, I’m definitely jealous. I would love to try my hand at dehydrating a whole whack of foods, but I don’t see one in my future any time soon. Looking forward to what you create :)

Andrea- Good idea, Kitchen gadgets have basically taken over all of our counter space AND cabinets. It’s getting to be a little much.

The model I got has 5 trays and cost $190.00. I think the cheapest one is on sale for $120.
