Mail Time!

by eatingbirdfood on April 4, 2009

Yesterday I continued with trying to use up my Joseph’s lavash bread and decided to have a sweet/savory wrap after hitting up the gym (in the am AGAIN!!!).

The lavash has Trader Joe’s SF Blackberry preserves smeared on with 1 egg white and 1 Morningstar Veggie Sausage pattie. I’m all for sweet and savory combo so this wrap was a winner in my book.

Lunch consisted of more wrapage. This time with a hummus spread, Tofurkey, spinach, tomatoes, onions, and some jalopenos for a kick.

Today was full of repeats: I decided to combine my lunch ingredients in a different way to make dinner. Additions included 1/2 an avocado and TJ’s goddess dressing, subtractions included lavash bread, hummus, and (Hickory Smoked) Tofurkey.

I had been wanting to try Newman’s Own Organic Hermits for so long.

So I had one after din. Oh so molassesely (I’m certain this is not a word, but it could be if I added it to addictionary.com- a site for word lovers to showcase and market their cleverness and creativity to the world. Erin, I’m pretty sure this site was made for you.)

Back to the Hermits: these are basically a chewy cookie, about the size of a fig newton (or fig newman rather), with raisins and a strong molasses flavor. They remind me of a molasses chew cookie, which I love. YUM!

SATURDAY:

This morning Isaac and I woke up around 7:30, well rested and ready to take on the day. I made a quick bowl of kashi go lean, chocolate protein powder, and unsweetened almond milk.

And some dried berries on the side:

After hitting up the gym, I came home, carved a fresh pineapple and then went to buy some new running shoes. I had trained for both a half marathon and a 10k in my current Asics so I went to the running store to find a new pair. I ended up getting the same version of my old shoe, just the new style. I think I’ve done this about 6 times since I’ve been running. I really like Asics so I just stick with what works.

The perks of being a blogger =  fun mail!! Today I got a package from Laura, a blog reader, who was intersted in doing a bar exchange.

img_0352

She sent me a Clif MoJo Bar and some Soy Joy, Zoe’s, and Keribar bars. I’m pumped because I haven’t tried the Zoe’s or KeriBar before. And she also included some coupons. Thanks so much Laura!

And then I also recieved my sample from Barney Butter and a coupon for a free Kashi frozen entree. I love getting mail no matter whay, but today’s mail was a food lovers dream!

I’m out to watch some b-ball with mr. Isaac and ms. olive. She got a bath today so she is smelling all fresh and clean.

I hope you all are having a lovely weekend.

I looooove the Hermits! I am really jealous of all the bloggers getting Nemans things. So sad. Anyway, I hope you like your free bars.

I love mail days like that :D It definitely makes it more exciting than bills.

Your breakfast wrap looks really good. If I liked eggs, I would totally try it out. Sweet & savoury is a great combo.

Those Hermits look SOO good, they remind me of some cookie my mom used to make when I was a kid. Syrup something or other cookies, I think! They were SO good, especially straight out of the oven because they were so chewy then. Cookies are always better chewy, no?

Cool bars you got there too, haven’t seen/heard of most of those, like the Zoe’s, Keribar and Soyjoy. Pretty packages!

Love your sweet and savory breakfast. The salty/sweet combo is the best. I had the combo in trail mix form on my oats this morning – so yummy!

Looks like you had a nice relaxing day with Joseph…uh, I mean Isaac. :) All your wraps look good as did your wrap-less dinner.

I’m dying to try those Hermits. I keep seeing them on blogs, but have yet to look for them in the store. It’s now on my to-do list for today.

Have a wonderful week my friend and enjoy your new Asics!
