Weekend Update

by eatingbirdfood on March 15, 2009

I’m still hooked on breakfast for dinner so Friday evening I ended up having this lovely meal:

1 egg, 2 egg whites, onions and tomatoes with some hot sauce sprinkles. Veggie sausage. Green grapes and strawberries. I am kind of bummed about the berries. They just aren’t that sweet and they are from Whole Foods for goodness sake.  I guess I just expected them to be better.

Saturday morning I woke up LATE! I had a long night of beating everyone in wii bowling- I’m good, what can I say.

It was nice to sleep in but I missed my 9:15 spin class. After reading some other blogs I realized I’m not the only one having an off sleep schedule. I think the time change still has everyone off. I ate a quick bowl of PB Puffins with USAM. (They were camera shy so I don’t have a photo.) I ended up making it to the 10:30 spin class and it was awesome. After cycling my heart out I did some step work on my own and some abs then headed home. I ate a bunch of wasabi peas (addicting) for a snack, started cleaning the house and then stopped from a while to make a fruit and cottage cheese platter for lunch.

Friendship Whipped 1% Cottage Cheese with Tj’s sugar free blackberries perseveres. We hung around the house for a bit. A friend came into town so it was great to catch up with him. We decided to go have Indian food for dinner since we hadn’t had it in so long. We went to New India. We were the only people in the restaurant, which is bad news for them considering it was a Saturday night. It really hope they get a lot of business other times of week/day because the food was amazing! This was our third time going there and we’ve always been extremely delighted at how good the food is. If you live in Richmond and like Indian food, please give it a try.

When eating Indian I usually get Dal or the vegetable tikki because I know those are healthy options. BUT, ever since seeing The Fitnessista eat Baigan Bhartha almost every time she eats Indian I had to try it. And, I LOVED IT!

I also ordered Roti (Whole Wheat Naan) and ate some of the appetizer- chips with sweet and mint dipping sauces before our order arrived. Isaac got the Matar Paneer, peas and cheese cubes. This dish is my favorite Amy’s Indian frozen meal so I wanted to taste his. I had one cheese cube, but I couldn’t eat any more because it was sooo spicy. He ordered a 9 for his spiciness level on a scale of 1-10. I went with the 5, and mine was still hot enough to make me sweat. Whew… but it was delicious. And, the best part is that I have left overs!

I was literally stuffed after dinner and just wanted to take a little nap, but we had made plans to go meet up with a friend of mine from work. Actually it’s kind of exciting because she is one of our newest hires and she is the same age as me. It’s awesome to have a young person in the office and she is cool, so that’s even better! On our walk over we stopped by a friend’s house to say hello and I started chatting with a girl there. I am SO jealous of her!! She is doing her internship to be and RD and will be done in JULY. I couldn’t stop asking her questions and telling her how I am really interested in going back to school, etc. It was fun! Hopefully I will be seeing more of her.

Anyways, we continued our walking journey met up with my new friend from work and her bf at at Delux. I had 1 glass of red wine and then ordered another. I should have just stuck with the 1 because I was still feeling really full and bloated. I’m guessing it was something I ate at the Indian restaurant, but not exactly sure what. We left the Delux and walked to another bar but because my pants were feeling tight and uncomfy I decided to stick with water. We walked home after last call and I crashed right after walking in the door.

My tum was feeling better this morning and I had plenty of room for an oatbran/meal combo. img_0202

1/2 cup USAM, 1/2 cup water, 1/4 cup oatbran, 1/4 cup oatmeal, 1/2 banana, ground flax, and 1 tablespoon of Better n’ PB!

This whole weekend has been cold and rainy so I could easily just stay at home wrapped in a snuggie (haha) but I really want to go shopping so I’m headed to an outdoor mall and then possibly to Trader Joe’s and to the gym. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Yummy Indian feast :) Level 9?! Geez – sounds intense! I’m thinking I need to try whipped CC since I eat regular CC all the time!

Have fun at TJs if you decide to go!!

Glad you had a good time at the Indian restaurant and have someone your age to work with! I am the youngest one in my department and it can be hard sometimes.

I’ve thought about going back to school as well, but man it’s a HUGE commitment! Good luck if you do!

I’m the youngest person in my office by 25 years!!! I recently got a part time job in a restaurant and it’s been the best thing for me working with people my age!

Dinner looked really yummy. I love Indian food!

I mix dry cereals all the time for breakfast, but I never would have thought to combine hot cereals. Great idea!

I’m disappointed your berries weren’t very sweet either. Hopefully, your next berry purchase will be better. :) I am so jealous of all the strawberries I’ve been seeing and need to pick up some of my own. I love it that berry season is almost upon us.

Breakfast for dinner is so good as well as breakfast for lunch or a snack. I love breakfast!

Indian food – yum. So good. Nothing like a little roti for dipping. 9?!? I couldn’t do it. I’m more of a 3. :)

Hope you got in another good workout and picked up some goodies at Trader Joe’s – my favorite.

PS – My sleep is way off too. Slept 11 hours on Saturday and THEN took a 90 minute nap yesterday. So unlike me…it was awesome.

Have a good week my Wasa eating friend. :)

All the food in this post has me drooling! Sorry the berries aren’t as sweet as you’d like – it’s still early for them so hopefully they’ll get better!
