Spice Things Up

by eatingbirdfood on March 7, 2009

It’s the weekend and I’m totally pumped. It’s sunny and about 70 degrees outside – big change from last weekend when we got about 10 inches of snow. Gotta love March in VA. I love snow and all but I was happy to see it melt because I am so ready for spring and warm weather!

This morning I started things with some kashi go lean, chocolate whey protein powder, and original almond milk (I’m all out of my USAM).

After eating the cereal I was still wanting more so I heated up a MorningStar veggie sausage patty. I did some blog reading then started to clean the house in a fury. I had lunch plans for 1:00, but I started to get hungry around 12:00 so I had a little snack- Trader Joe’s Habanero pistachios. This was just the beginning of the spiciness.

For lunch I headed over to Ginger Thai to meet up with Christie aka Beadie from What I Ate Yesterday, the dear husband, and a friend of hers.  I had such a great time getting to know her and discussing blog stuff. Hopefully we didn’t bore her friend and the dear husband too much :)

Lunch was yummy, as usual. I ordered the fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce to start. I think these are my favorite part about Thai and Vietnamese cuisine.

For my entree I ordered the green papaya salad. I went with the medium spiciness, which wasn’t exactly what I would consider medium. It wasn’t so spicy that I couldn’t eat it, but I was literally sweating while eating it. At one point Christie was like, “Okay, you really are sweating!”

After lunch we went outside to get a picture together in the sun and I then headed home to let Olive out. I can’t wait to see more of Christie. She’s so cool!

When I got home I was craving something sweet.. maybe I just needed to get the spiciness out of my mouth, but I had 2 squares of Endangered Spieces Dark Chocolate with Cranberries and almonds.

I’m headed out for a run and then to the CAA tournament tonight. Got my fingers crossed for MASON! Maybe we will go to the Final Four again this year…. a girl can dream right?

Look at you two beautiful girls! What a fun meet-up!

I am enjoying the warmer temps also! It really feels like spring is on it’s way!

I bought some Wasa crackers yesterday to make your homemade and healthier nutty bars! Yum, I used to eat those all of the time as a kid!

The fresh spring rolls look very good! I bet those would be easy to made at home???

Hope you are having a great weekend!

That blogger meet up looks so fun! I love being able to talk “bloggie” in person – it’s awesome. Haha, and I’ve totally gotten dishes before where I sweat while eating them! Love the picture of you two!

Those pistachios from Trader Joe’s sound awesome. I’ve just discovered how great of a snack they are, so I’ll have to try different variations!

I can dream about Northwestern actually MAKING it to the NCAA tourney. They’re the only team in the BCS conferences to have never gone before! C’mon!
