Milk- An American Classic

by eatingbirdfood on March 11, 2009

Not the beverage- the movie (but more on that in a moment). Last night’s dinner was quick, easy, and delish. Butternut Squash Fries and baked tofu that marinated for a little over 2 days in soy sauce and rice vinegar. Nothing fancy, but oh so tasty.

After dinner we watched MILK and it was awesome. Who knew about Harvie Milk before the movie? I know that I hadn’t! I really can’t believe that I had never heard mention of him in any of my history courses.

It’s a very passionate and interesting movie and Sean Penn totally deserved the Oscar. While watching the movie I had a little snack of pumped up captain crunch aka PB Puffins, kashi go lean, and original almond milk.

This morning I did the half and half thing with oatmeal and oat bran, 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (I love this stuff), 1/2 cup h20, 1/2 of a frozen banana, and some ground flax and  shredded coconut on top.

Today at the gym I kept thinking about what I wanted for dinner (does anyone else do this?) and all I kept thinking of was breakfast foods. Which led to me fixing up this little plate when I got home:

1 egg, 2 egg whites, 1 piece of honey flax bread with cherry preserves and almond butter and a veggie sausage patty. I love b-fast for dinner!

Does today feel like Thursday to anyone else besides me… I don’t know why but it’s felt that way all day.

Yes – today has been Thursday all day. Such a weird week…maybe it’s the time change?

Love all the coconut action in your oats, and there is seriously nothing better than breakfast for dinner!

Milk, can’t wait to see it. I’m so behind in all my Oscar movie watching! Oh, and I was a history major – never heard of Harvie Milk either until the movie.

Thanks for the link love. :)

I definitely want to see that movie. I also hadn’t heard anything about the story of Harvey Milk before the movie came out.

Love all that coconut on the oat bran/oatmeal :)

Haha–I totally know what you mean. I run before breakfast, so by the last mile, I am always thinking about what to have for breakfast!

I have not seen Milk but I really would like to!

Don’t you just love the half oat bran and half oatmeal? And yes, I always think of what I am going to eat next when running!
