Interference

by eatingbirdfood on March 18, 2009

Something is up with my Suunto T1c HRM. It works perfect at the gym, but can’t seem to find my heart rate when in my living room. This doesn’t make sense at all to me as I would expect an interference to happen with all the machines and equipment at the gym, but not in my simplistic living room. I tried everything to find out what was causing the loss of signal- turned off the Direct TV box, took Isaac’s computer to the other room, turned off the touch lamp- yes, they still sell touch lamps and yes we have one. Actually, maybe my living room is just haunted because now that I think about it- the lamp does crazy things like turning on or off when someone gets up from the couch- even though the couch is more than 4 feet away from the lamp. oooooooo…..

Oh well, the point is that I still can’t get my HRM to work in my living room so I don’t know how many calories I burn when doing The 30-Day Shred. I did it (level 1) for the 3rd time this evening(It’s actually my 4th day with it, but I skipped St. Patty’s Day)

Today’s 20 minutes of shredding went great, although I was totally beat when it was over. I think the reason I was really feeling it because I went on a 45 minute run beforehand. I plan to do a full review on the DVD once I get a few more days into it.

I was all about going green again today. For lunch I came home for lunch of spring mix, broccoli, green peppers, kidney beans, wheatberries, and Trader Joe’s Goddess Dressing. On the side I had 1/2 of a Thomas’ Whole Wheat Mini Square Bagelbread with a spread of Laughing Cow cheese. This was one of the better lunches I have had in a while.

I decided to go for a walk after eating because the sun was finally shining here in VA (oh.. how I missed the sunshine). Somehow I ended up at a local grocery store and thought it would be a grand idea to purchase a grab bag of dried fruit from the bulk bins for a snack. I didn’t have my camera but the highlight of the dried fruit mix was organic dried mango and sour cherries. I have a weak spot for dried fruit.

After work I went for the lovely run I mentioned earlier and did some shredding then prepared dinner, again more salad.

This one consisted of spring mix, wheatberries, green pepper slices, hot banana peppers, and tuna salad (made with Bone Suckin’ Mustand and some relish).

Dinner wouldn’t be complete without Butternut squash fries!

I’m officially in love with these. They’re just so easy and I’m pretty sure I like them better than regular potato fries because of the sweetness factor. So good… if you still have yet to try them, I promise they are worth the cutting process.

Last but not least, I had yet another green salad tonight. Isaac attended his first Baby Shower (hehe) for a lady at work (btw- he works with all women). He made watergate salad to take. Luckily he brought me home a little mug of it to taste. This salad was one of my favorite dishes growing up. I always requested that my mom make it. YUM! I just realized I don’t have a picture of this green, fluffy salad on the recipe page. This could be a good excuse to make a batch :)

It was a beautiful day here in Maryland as well!

Your salads look delicious and protein packed!

I’m interested to hear what you think of the shred video. I bought it, but haven’t used it yet! I really like that it is only 20 minutes, but a great workout!

My mom makes something similar to that called Heavenly Salad. It’s plain yogurt, coconut, mini coloured marshmallows, mandarin oranges, pineapple, cherries, grapes. It’s so good. She always made it when I was growing up for Easter and Thanksgiving. I love that stuff!

Thanks for reminding me I haven’t had b-nut squash fries in awhile!

I still haven’t brought myself to shred after running 5 miles – go you!

I’m also afraid its going to make my legs too sore for my upcoming runs and nows not the time to slack on my runs since I’m doing a 10 miler in a few weeks!! I guess I should quit complaining b/c it will probably help with my race right?!

Could you possibly need a new battery? Mine acts crazy when it needs a new one.

Good lookin’ eats, as per usual!

Yeah my HRM (when I’m back home from college) doesn’t work right in my bedroom back home. I’m sure it has to do with interference from the electronics, but that stinks that even after unplugging stuff, it still doesn’t work! Boo!

And as a substitute for my overhead light (getting it fixed) I used a touch lamp for awhile…it was dim, old, and also haunted! I’d come home from work with no one having been in the house and it would be on! And would turn on randomly all the time! Must just be really sensitive! Haha!

All your eats look great Brittany!

Happy Thursday!

Hmm, interesting sounding Watergate Salad. I don’t know how I feel about pistachio pudding though. But I totally think you should make it so we can at least see a picture. Do it for the blog!

YUMMY! I think maybe your HRM doesn’t work because you’re so chilled out at home. Uhh…weak.
