Ain't No Sunshine

by eatingbirdfood on March 17, 2009

when it rains… for 4 days straight. Really the rain isn’t THAT bad, but what is bad is that my socks got wet on the way to work because my Sperrys are old, worn in and tend to leak. All I can say is that I am ready for some warm and dry weather. Along with a new pair of kicks.

Speaking of warm, I had hot cereal for breakfast yesterday. Does anyone really use the term hot cereal anymore? Anyways the half oat bran, half oatmeal combo is ranking high on my breakfast list right now. The creaminess factor simply can’t be beat. Cooked by stove top with the infamous unsweetened almond milk, 1/2 of a banana, and a dash of cinnamon. I throw a little ground flax in for good measure and top it all off  with some fake pb. img_0202

Lunch was easy peasy- left over Trader Joe’s Tomato & Roasted Red Pepper Soup.

And some crackers that Isaac picked up for me at his favorite beer store. Elsa’s Story Crisp Baked Crackers. Elsa’s Story is an Israel-based brand of premium kosher baked goods. Oddly enough, we’ve only seen these products at the beer store. But we’ve also tried the Brown Sugared Butter Cookies. Isaac LOVED the buttery, sweet taste of them.

The Rosemary and Oil flavor is pretty pronounced in the Crispy Baked Crackers and you can see the rosemary flakes in every cracker. They are lighter than your normal cracker and have a great flavor. They were perfect with the tomato soup and plain. :)

I packed half a cup of whipped cottage cheese and a blood orange to take back to the office with me. I only ended up eating the CC because I grabbed a 100 calorie pack of popcorn from the office cabinet for a snack instead of eating the orange.

I went to the gym for cardio- it was PACKED! Due to the rain, I guess. I really wanted to run as I have a 10K coming up in less than 2 weeks but all the treadmills were taken so I just did the elliptcal for 30 minutes and headed out of the mad house.

Once home I took on Day 2 of The Shred with my girl Jil- still on level one and still using cans as my weights. I actually only have 10 pounds weights at my house and if I used those the DVD would no longer be called The Shred and would be more like The Dead. My canned goods are pretty comical. I need to get a photo of the two cans… you guys will love it.

Thanks to everyone who commented yesterday. I loved reading how so many people are doing the DVD and I can’t wait to hear how the results go for us. It will be fun to compare.

I had a small salad with sweet poppy seed dressing to hold me over before dinner was ready. It was totally green, spring mix, spinach, broccoli, and green pepps.

As I was shredding, Isaac was cooking it up in the kitch. He took a leaf off of our banana plant and used it as a wrap to cook a tuna steak and salmon fillet. Genius!img_0211

After it was seasoned by the chef and cooked!

Our version of FISH & CHIPS. Here’s my portion.

The salmon was my favorite. I loved the way he seasoned the fish, although I forgot to ask what he used. The tuna was good and as always the b-nut squash was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Pretty much the best fries ever.

Don’t forget to check out Eating Bender’s blogiversary giveaway.

And, Happy St. Patty’s Day! I don’t really think anyone in my office is going to go around pinching, but I’m still wearing a bit of green.

Did you wear green today?

Fabulous breakfast combination!!

I’m wearing the green bracelet that I wore in my current video post – that’s as green as I get, since I only wear black/white/grey, haha :-D

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!!

Hot cereal sounds slightly geriatric, but I think it’s kind of funny!

10 lbs and the shred would not be good for me! Maybe you could start using heavier and heavier cans. :D I used progresso soup cans.

I will totally bring the term “hot cereal” back now ;)

Those crackers sound/look great! Ok, and I need to do this Shred! I can’t believe how intense it sounds!

Thanks for the shout out :) I am not wearing green yet, but that is because I am still in my PJ’s! It’s still early here!

The dread! Oh how I love you. Could you use 5 lbs? I’m only asking because I have no concept of how hard these workouts are.
I have a green workout shirt that says: IRISH MAKE BETTER LOVERS in glittery letters. I happen to know this is a fact because 1) I’m Irish and 2) so is Rob.

Love your fish & chips. Salmon would probably be my favourite as well, as I love me some salmon. I still need to try out those butternut squash fries.

And yes, I wore a green t-shirt to work :D
