The 10K race went really well today! It was raining pretty hard ALL night long last night and I was certain that it was going to be a soggy and wet race AGAIN this year. I’m not going to lie, I was kind of dreading it. But we totally lucked out- the ground was wet but it didn’t rain at all during the run and the temperature was great. Richmond is known for putting on good races and this year was no exception- there were lots of spectators to cheer everyone on, bands playing on every corner, and crazy people dressed up in costumes.
A highlight of the crazies: a group of Peter Pan’s, a Loofah and a bar of soap, Ms. Pac Man and the enemies chasing her, and Ab Lincoln.
It was a blast! My cousin and I ran together the entire time. My only goal was to beat my last year’s time and I DID IT! I was 2 minutes and 11 seconds faster- woo hoo. I am totally pumped!

Ukrop’s 10K 2008:

The only funny thing is that I didn’t train at all this year, whereas last year I trained by running every Saturday morning with a training team for 3 months beforehand. Very, Very interesting!
Two of the best parts (besides the PR, of course):
a.) Cool new bag!

b.) Trail mix samples.

As you can tell I took more than 1 sample. Call me the Trail Mix Queen. I ate one promptly after crossing the finish line and I just finished another packet. I’m kind of annoyed though.. it has too many peanuts and too few M&M’s!
I don’t know what we have in store for the rest of the weekend, but I hope everyone is having a great one!

CONGRATS!!! That’s fabulous – be proud!
“too many peanuts and too few M&M’s!” Sounds perfect to me
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Great race results!!
An abundance of M&M’s = that was always my favorite part of trail mixes too
Awesome run girl! 8:27 is an awesome pace to keep for a 10k! Way to go!
AWESOME JOB!!! HAHAH, I love the trail mix!
Hoooray! I am glad the race went well, I was thinking about you this morning!
YAAAAY! i’m glad it went well! GREAT JOB!
Congrats on your race
Gotta love the free trail mix!

any day. come on planters!!
YAy for the race going so well!!! And yay for trail mix! gotta love it:)
Congrats!! Enjoy your trail mix;)
CONGRATULATIONS! You picked up some serious swag – I always find that trail mix has too many peanuts and not enough M&Ms
Again, it’s soo great that you PRed! Especially without doing as much training!
Congratulations! You should be supa proud!
Are you already itching to do your next race?
What an awesome time for your race, congrats!!! Yay for no rain. I love raining in the rain in the middle of summer, but during a race would not be enjoyable. Plus it’s also early spring, so that would be pretty cold!
I love that bag!!!
Good work on the run. I am amazed by people who run. I have always wanted to love it but I just don’t. i can ride my bike for hours and hours and hours- but running. Not for this little body.
that was so awesome that they gave out the reusable bags this year! they’re so cute! wahooooo! you kicked a$$ on your run! that’s glorious! hooray for some trail mix samples! i ended up grabbing some organic nature’s path granola bars – i wish i had grabbed some yummy trail mix, too! yay for tasty samples! and once again – great job on your run & your time!
CONGRATULATIONS! I’m really proud of you! That’s totally weird about the training thing! I wonder if you’re just in better shape overall?
Maybe you should buy a bag of M&M’s to eat alongside the TM. I hate when the ratio of healthy:unhealthy ingredients is too much in favor of the healthy!
