Hmm…Citrusy

by eatingbirdfood on February 20, 2009

I did a little something different for breakfast and had some kashi go lean with 1/2 scoop of chocolate protein powder, and USAM.

I took this photo and then Isaac left for work – he needed his camera today so the second part of my breakfast (a banana with PB & Co Cinnamon Swirl PB) and my lunch (creamy tomato soup, salad, and edamamae) are photoless. I’m still on the search for a good camera. I can’t decide on one yet, but I’ve asked several bloggers and it seems the Canon SD880 IS on the top of my list at this point.

My house is now Pom Wonderful….. Isaac absolutely loves this stuff. We even have a few of the Pom Tea glasses as proof. I made a mocktail of sparkling water and pom to go with dinner.

I went to work out directly after work today. I guess no one else likes to work out on Friday evenings because the gym wasn’t busy at, which was quite lovely.

I came home and made din for Isaac and I. I tried a new recipe that I had found in Real Simple: Lemony Shrimp with White Beans and Cous Cous

I changed the recipe a tad by using 1/2 the amount of butter and using whole wheat cous cous. It turned out well and tasted good, however I probably won’t be making it again. I don’t know why but I’m drawn to making citrusy dishes, then kind of regret it once I do. The lemon flavor wasn’t too over powering, but the dish was lacking in flavor. Isaac and I added some parmesean cheese to the top and that helped a lot.

We’ve been playing wii, and then a friend is coming over to go to Very Berry, the fro yo shop! I love that place. I’ll post a pict of my creation tomorrow! I hope everyone has a great weekend ahead… any big plans?

Humm… that dish looks really good even though it wasn’t as packed with flavor. It’s too bad because I love just about anything with white beans in it, and I’m always looking for recipes. Wonder what you could add that would make it better?

Rose- Maybe using all the butter the recipe calls for or adding parmesan cheese or more garlic.

Friday night is always the best night to go to the gym. I wish I could have gone tonight, because it’s so dead, it’s awesome!

I’ll be interested to see what camera you end up buying. I need to get a new point & shoot to compliment my digital SLR.

Hey hey– I’m new to the foodie blogosphere and I just started reading your blog :) I noticed that you use chocolate protein powder a lot– I’d never really thought about it. What is it like in terms of calories?

Thanks! Also, if you want to check out my blog (which I share with my friend Layla):

I’ve heard that’s a GREAT camera. I really like my Canon Rebel BUT it’s only as good as the lighting, I guess – I can’t get natural light pictures during the week.
Do you usually like the Real SImple recipes? For some reason I haven’t had luck with them. But they always SOUND really good!

I saw that recipe in Real Simple. I’m sorry it didn’t turn out as good as you had hoped. It looks really good, though :)

I have to put a little plug in for the Nikon Coolpix. I love it! My old camera broke so I got this one for Christmas and love the macro setting: http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Coolpix-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B0012OELQW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1235257490&sr=1-2

Have a great weekend, Brittany!
