Olive the Ferret

I ran home for lunch yesterday and I didn’t know what to eat because the fridge was looking a little bare. I remembered I had some Amy’s Curried Lentil soup. I love the Amy’s frozen Indian meals, so I thought this would be a good pick. I was right! I ate the whole can for a filling lunch! If only I had some naan bread to go with it- it would have been perfecto.

I was so excited to get off work yesterday afternoon, because I knew my love was at home already. After not seeing Isaac for a week I was getting giddy by the time 5:30 rolled around. As I was walking home, he and Olive were walking towards me- it was a special treat. But I have to admit, it was funny seeing Isaac walk Olive  because she is so tiny and she has a light pink leash- apparently on the way to meet me, a lady thought he was walking a ferret until she got up close.

It was really nice to see him. Anyway, we  headed to the grocery store last night before dinner, because we were both low on food. I ended not getting much because I wanted to wait and go to Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods today. I got  some salad, a red pepper, 2 avocados, 1 tomato, 3 cartons of almond milk because they were on sale for $1.89 (aka really cheap), and a can of sauerkraut.

I don’t think I have had sauerkraut since I was really young, but I wanted to try it again. I had a bit on my salad for dinner. The verdict- it’s sour, pickley, and not really my fav.

But, I also made more guac in the Vita-Mix, because I wanted Isaac to try my signature recipe, and that stuff defiietely is so tasty. I’m hooked. Here’s my dinner salad with the sauerkraut, guacamole, tomatoes, red peppers, hearts of palm, and TJ’s goddess dressing:

This didn’t completely fill me up so I had a yogurt with a bit of granola as well. Then some popped kettle corn later as a snack.

We woke up this morning and for once I got to sleep past 7:30AM- when I got up I made a glass of hot water, which I like to finish drinking before I dive into breakfast, but  I was really hungry so I made a bowl of Kashi Go Lean and TJ’s high fiber cereal with some unsweetened vanilla almond milk and ate right away.

Today, Isaac is taking Olive with him to his Ultimate Frisbee game, I’m going to go to a spin class, hit up Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods, and then we are going to root on our college team- MASON at a b-ball game tonight. It should be fun. I hope you all have a fab weekend.

What a nice surprise to see Olive w/ Isaac.

I have a question, which you can ignore if it’s none of my business – do you and Isaac each buy your own food? I am only wondering because Mark and I just moved in together and getting the amount/type of food right is kind of tricky! Thanks.

I just bought some hearts of palm after trying it in a salad at a restaurant and it is so good! Your salad looks delicious.

Being in love is a dream. :) Why do you drink hot water in the morning? Just to warm up or is there another reason? Have a great time tonight!

Erin- Isaac’s mom got me hooked on it. She learned about it when studying the Ayurvedic diet principles. It’s suppose to be better for digestion than drinking cold water. I tried it for a little while and started craving it. Now I like to drink it instead of tea and coffee throughout the day. And it helps warm me up!
