B-nut in the Oven

by eatingbirdfood on December 31, 2008

I slept in quite late yesterday and woke up hungry. I decided to have an apple about 20 minutes before going for some brown rice cereal with a banana on top.

Our friend, Aubrey, is in town visiting so while Isaac went to his staff luncheon at a fancy shamancy restaurant, Aubrey and I went to have sushi. I didn’t get to take a picture, but I had

  • miso soup
  • seaweed salad
  • 2 peices of yellowtail tuna sashimi

We went to Capital Ale House for “Steal the Glass” night, I had a Hoegaarden beer and Isaac had the Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. We sipped on these while playing darts and Isaac got to bring his glass home. I haven’t drank in a while so I was feeling this one beer pretty quickly.

I was starving for dinner so when get got home I had a quick salad with sprout beans with Trader Joe’s Goddess dressing and a few wheat thins with hummus while something special cooked in the oven.

B-nut squash fries!!!! After seeing them eaten by both The Fitnessista and Gliding Calm, I decided I had to try em. I cut up the squash, sprayed them with some canola oil and sprinkled some S&P, then baked them for 425 for about 30-40 minutes. They are sooo good, I would even go as far as saying they are better than sweet potato fries?!?

After din we went over to a friends house to help them decorate and build a “tent room” for thier New Year’s Eve party, which is tonight! I’ll be sure to take pictures. While walking to their house I had a mug of diet hot chocolate and once we got there they offered me special dark chocolate Hershey’s kisses – which I couldn’t resist. I had 5.

This morning I woke up and had some fresh grapefruit juice made in the Mr. JuiceMan. So creamy and delicious.

Followed by 1/2 cup oats with water, with 1/2 scoop of chocolate protein powder, some ground flax and some almond butter.

Show and Tell

by eatingbirdfood on December 29, 2008

Since I didn’t really get to post much about Christmas I thought I would fill you all in on two of my lovely gifts as they might spike the blogger community’s interest. The first is a Mr. Juiceman Jr.

I had wanted to borrow Isaac’s mom’s juicer to try it out and this gave Isaac the impression I wanted one, so I got myself a juicer and I plan on “energizing my life,” just as the box states. This morning we made grapefruit juice and orange juice that were out of this world. Here’s a pic of the OJ.

Nothing at all like grocery store juice – I would describe it as a juice latte, frothy and delicious. I know people complain about cleaning juicers but I think it’s pretty easy. With the juiceman jr. there aren’t that many parts and nothing seemed too crazy. Oh and, Isaac cleaned it this time. :)

After juicing it up this am I decided I wanted some oats for bfast. I made 1/2 cup of steel cut oats with water. Then splashed them with some vanilla hemp milk and added a dollop of pecan pumpkin butter from Maggie at Say Yes to Salad. Love her and this delightful butter.

The other Christmas present was something I had been wanting for quite some time. A HRM. Isaac got me the SUUNTO T1c and I LOVE it. It makes my workout more effective and fun. I love doing experiments to see what cardio machines gets my heart rate going. and of course what burns the most calories. So far, my tests have concluded that the stair mill gets me the most bang for my buck (time wise) but this was no surprise considering its the machine that makes me sweat the most. Here’s a picture of it – I’m obviously not using at the moment – I was all wrapped up in my robe.

Lastly, I didn’t have a white Christmas but for any of you that did and are still covered in a white dusting – if you plan on eating any snow please eat carefully and heed this message.

Olive is her Name-o

December 27, 2008

Merry belated Christmakah!! I’m happy to say that I will be back to posting. Although… it might be a tad bit sporadic due to traveling for the holidays. But seriously I’ve totally been missing it- especially after reading posts about everyone’s holidays. Despite my grandmother passing, my family and I had a cheerful holiday. Isaac [...]

MIA

December 20, 2008

I realized that I haven’t updated since Monday – I’m slacking- I know, but unfortunately I may not be able to blog consistently for a little bit. I don’t know how personal I want to be on my blog but I figure since I may be MIA for a bit longer I would share with [...]

Wacky Monday

December 15, 2008

Things are all out of wack here in VA, it’s December 15th and 70 degrees. Seriously I’m not complaining because this is great news for my outrageous heating bill, however 70 degree weather is just not really suppose to be happening right now. It’s suppose to be snowing so I can walk in a winter [...]
