I feel like I have been going going going non stop, similar to the energizer bunny. I got home from Florida on Thursday night at 10PM. Got to the airport, drove to the casa, failed at unpacking because I was so tired, and then hit the hay. I went to work on Friday morning, ran errands on my lunch break and then right after work headed to my home town to visit with my Dad for a while. We didn’t make it to my Dad’s until 9PM, so we missed all the kiddies and the candy. My old neighborhood is the prime location for trick-or-treating – we usually get at least 100 kids, and apparently this year was no different than all the rest. It was funny because on our drive there my Dad texted me and said HELP!!!! I asked with what? and he said TOO MANY KIDS. haha… I thought it was funny.
So we didn’t end up getting all decked out for Halloween so I don’t have any awesome pictures to show you of me in Halloween garb…. maybe next year! But the reason I went home on Friday was for a little celebration me and my highschool friends try to attend every year… the Montpelier Horse Races.
Love the guy in the polka-dots.
I didn’t take this picture – a friend of a friend did, but it’s a good representation of what was going on while a bunch of this was also taking place:
About 10AM: my friends from highschool (minus Amanda who got there late) and I drinking mimosas to get the races started. I had been slacking and this is my first year going in about 5 years. It’s basically a day of tailgating. So we had a small grill, a spread of side dishes and snacks, a jeep with blaring music, lots of chairs, and a ton of alcohol. It was a good time – the weather was beautiful and the scenery is gorgeous there this time of year… I love FALL!
Eating wise.. I didn’t get many photos, but rest assured that I ate A LOT. I should have taken a photo of the food table- there were some delicious eats. I had a lot of chips and 7 layer dip, a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin, some nuts, some pasta that one of the guys made, it was banging btw, and a veggie burger. I made TRASH, I think Chex calls the recipe Muddy Buddies, but growing up we always called it trash so I’m sticking with that. It was a hit, however there were leftovers – I decided it was in my best interest not to bring them home so I left them for someone else to eat. Isaac will probably be upset once he notices that we don’t have the leftovers.
This morning I woke up feeling sick – coughing up some grossiness and all that jazz. I will stop there, beacuse this is a food blog and needless to say, that was just unappetizing. Isaac made me some throat tea and I finally got out of a bed a while later. For breakfast I copied Jenn over at Eating Bender (who btw, has an awesome new layout) and decided to make some PBJ oats. What a delicious combo – not sure why I didn’t add jelly to my oats sooner?!?! Isaac added the prop for my photo:
I hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween weekend – can you all believe it’s already NOVEMBER?!?

looks like loads of fun, the pbj oats, great idea looks scrumptious
The guy with the polka dots definitely has spunk. Did he win?
It looks like you have really long legs, but instead of being jealous I will say – nice stems!
I hope you feel better!
I’ve been kind of a lurker on your blog for a while but I thought I’d finally pipe up and say hi! I love checking in with your blog and think you do a great job with it. Cute pics. Glad you’re having a nice weekend!
It’s totally crazy… it feels like just yesterday the summer was starting.
Feel better!

I certainly cannot believe it’s November already… how time flies!
Glad you had fun on your alternative Halloween celebration
… the PBJ Oats sound like heaven in a bowl!
Good idea on the pb&j in the oats. I might have to give this a try sometime this week.
I’m with Heather. DAYUM! Nice legs! And I adore that scarf. Your life has definitely been busy. I’m glad you had time to check in today.
I’ve missed you!
The horse races sound like fun, glad you had a good time!
I LOVE “trash”. The version we make we refer to as “Puppy Chow”. No matter what you call it, that stuff is completely DELICIOUS. Which is why I never ever make it. Pretty sure I’d eat the entire batch in a day otherwise.
Sounds like a great weekend! I bet you enjoyed being with friends!
Thanks for the shout out
You’re so sweet! And I’m glad you liked the PB&J oats, too – haha, the prop is the best part of the picture!
The horse races sound like a good time – what a great picture of you and the group! Mm, and I love “trash,” but like Kristie, we call it “Puppy Chow” – no matter what the name, it’s INSANELY good!! In high school they sold it at bake sales and I’d down a bag in 10 seconds or less
I can’t believe it’s November, either!!
Great photos in this post – I love the one with the horses…
Haha – great prop for the oats!
