So a new Trader Joe’s opened close to my house this weekend. This is awesome because I will no longer have to bring a cooler when we go to DC or Fairfax. In the spirit of newness I decided I would try something I hadn’t had before:
Munchin’ Mix: Sprouted adzuki beans, lentils and peas.
I really like them, they are crunchy and earthy tasting and quite delicious plain or in salad. This spinach salad was packed from home for lunch.
Along with a cheese stick, TJs greek yogurt with honey (which I hadn’t had before either, and I loved this btw – I definitely need to go back and stock up) I mixed the granola in the yogurt and had TJ’s Antioxidant Trail mix on the side. The protein water was for a mid-morning snack.
I had some snacks between lunch and dinner. WW icecream from the work freezer, and some soy rice crisps before the gym. OH and I got my body fat tested at the gym today. It made me feel better, although it was my first time so I don’t really have much to compare it to, besides the fact sheet from the gym.
When I got home Isaac prepared a lovely and quick dinner. TJ’s canned lentil soup served in a green pepper (with a flower on top, of course). Brittany’s Blend ( I like to think these veggies were made for me) veggies and shrimp! He said he was going to tell me he prepared the lentil soup himself.. too bad it took 5 minutes to heat up and not even Rachael Ray could cook lentil soup that fast. But overall, he did a good job.
I had a bowl of cereal for a snack and then some TJ’s Simply the Best trail mix!! This kind used to be my favorite, but I’ve found that lately I tend to eat all the pineapples and dried cranberries and leave the cashews and almonds. I should probably just buy some dried fruit instead.
p.s. I had oatmeal for breakfast.. exactly the same as yesterday

That mix is interesting and I love the flower decorating your dinner…what a sweet touch!
TJ’s really is the best they have such great things at good prices… the honey roasted peanuts are a great addition to yogurt for a night time snack!
Love Trader Joe’s!!
Oooh, love the sprouts beans/legume mixture, and the stuffed peppers!!
I went to the new TJ’s this weekend too, love it!
Love the colors and greens in the dinner plate.
Hooray for TJ’s
Hurray for TJ’s! That Munchin’ Mix looks interesting – definitely a new one for me!
I love the way you put the soup in the pepper! That is so creative, and a wee bit better for you than a bread bowl
The flower on top is the perfect touch!
that stuffed pepper looks so beautiful!!!
what do you think of the special k protein water??
Oh my god, I can’t believe he made that for you! What a sweetie.
What a great stuffed pepper idea! I did something similar last week using TJ’s vegetarian chili, but I baked it in the oven like a traditional stuffed pepper with cheese on top. The chili wasn’t half bad if you’re in a pinch.
That sprout mixture is interesting, especially since I’ve been learning about sprouted beans lately. Maybe I’ll pick them up on my next trip.
fitnessista – I have only tried the Tropical Blend Protein water and I really like it. I use it as a mid morning “snack” and it works great at keeping me full. It tastes good and has 5 grams of both fiber and protein!! Let me know if you try it.
While I want to be happy for your TJs fest, I instead feel insane jealously. I’ll work through it.
I’m glad the body fat test soothed your fears!
What a pretty dinner! I love the stuffed pepper!
Trader Joe’s is THE BEST! Where did you find that munchin mix (near the granola or hiding out in another aisle)?? I’ve never seen it before, but it looks DELICIOUS! I’ll have to keep my eye out!
AlliJag- The munchin mix was in the product section. I really like it so I definitely recommend it.
