Too Salty, But Pumking is Sweet

by eatingbirdfood on September 18, 2008

I woke up early this morning and enjoyed eating my oats with a whole banana mixed in while cooking. Usually I would only use half but I have a few nanars getting rather ripe so today and tomorrow I will probably indulge in the whole banana. I like the extra sweetness!

This was my packed lunch. I ended up eating the almonds as a mid-morning snack around 11:00. My sandwich had pieces of left-over tempeh and smeared garlic hummus. Once at work I added slices of tomato and strings of cheese to the sandwich. I ended up eating the granola sample, raisins, and the left over cheese throughout the afternoon. I also ate some blueberries that were hanging out in the work fridge. The yogurt didn’t get eaten, but I left it at work for another day. My office is going healthy so they have all healthy snacks – lots of fruit, cheese, yogurt, nuts, AND skinny cow and weight watchers ice cream. I haven’t managed to grab any ice cream yet… there’s always Friday. It’s also funny because there are quite a few beers in the fridge as well – I haven’t seen anyone drink one yet. Maybe that happens on Fridays :)

After work , Isaac and I went to a local beer tasting. They were sampling all Octoberfest beers! My favorite one was by Southern Tier brewing company called pumking - This beer is basically a liquid pumpkin pie, one might speculate that someone baked a pie, pureed it, added some hops and put it in a bottle. But don’t worry it also has a nice beer taste and although it’s hidden quite well a good amount of alcohol. As an added bonus, pumpkin puree is included in the ingredient list. If it weren’t for the fact that is 9% alcohol I would never want to stop drinking this stuff, it’s one of the best beers I have had in a while. If you like beer, I definitely recommend it. Oh, I found this photo online, AND we have that exact PBR glass – we are classy.

For dinner I mixed left over cous cous with frozen stir-fry veggies and frozen shrimp. I added way too much Shoyu and it was so salty. I ate about 1/3 and couldn’t eat anymore. I was really disappointed because I was craving the stir-fry, but I ended up giving it to Isaac and eating a yogurt with granola for dinner. 100_1790.JPG

I went to the gym for a bit, then ate some fiber one cereal mixed with puffed wheat:

When I read the post title, I thought you’d misspelled pumpkin. :) Silly me!
Sorry about your stir fry! At least Issac took care of it.
I’m happy that you started your day with an extra sweet bowl of oatmeal! And it seems like work is going great for you. Yay!

Ooh, pumking sounds interesting!! I can’t believe it has pumpkin puree in it!

Wow, the stir-fry looks amazing. Too bad it was too salty, I hate that :( But yogurt and granola is a sweet way to make up for it!

That beer sounds so really really good :) . The stir-fry too it’s a shame that it was disappointing but, to be positive, it is a wonderful thing to have Issac to polish it off for you! Hope you had a great night and have a sweet bowl of oatmeal up ahead today, I know I do!

I saw that beer at Whole Foods and it was funny because they had it spelled wrong on the sign!

That’s awesome that your work has such healthy food choices. If only all work place did that.

I seriously want that beer. You make it sound like liquidy perfection. The label kind of rules too.
