I have a Tasty Bite of information for you all:
I’m not sure if anyone has ever eaten these little Tasty Bite Ready Meals. I’ve only ever had one once, but Isaac brought this one home last night to make for himself for dinner because I am a bad girlfriend and wouldn’t share my tempeh with him. No really, he had a few bites, really liked it, and said that he could eat it all right then. I told him to have it, but he said he wouldn’t because he wanted me to have leftovers. Sweet guy.

This ready meal doesn’t seem that bad for you, the ingredient list is short, there are quite a few vitamins, high in protein and fiber, and low in sugar – the only big downfall is probably the amount of sodium. Anyhow. I was in the kitchen when Isaac opened the box. Like a present that comes in a cereal box, out came this unattached piece of cardboard with this message.

I don’t know about you all, but I have never seen such an insert and I don’t really get the point of it. The opening sentence can be true but is also quite perplexing for a manufacturer/company to announce inside the box with their food product that isn’t necessary low-cal. I guess if you were having only this for dinner it would be considered a low calorie dinner- but that is beside the point. The point is that I think this insert is strange and from a marketing stand point, because that’s how I think of things…. I think it’s stupid. There are certainly better ways to use the ink and cardboard they are wasting on this. What do you guys think?
On to this morning… I had oats for breakfast. 1/2 a banana was mixed in while the oats cooked and flax, granola, and PB were placed on top!

What a weird and random message to put into a “ready meal” box… wonder what genius came up with that idea.
Your bowl of oats is completely picture perfect. It should be in a magazine.
Well, I agree about being a waste of cardboard and ink for this reason: the product is marketed as natural and vegan. Most likely someone choosing this product is a “healthy” eater and more aware than the average bear about the purpose of calories. I like the message for its meaning, but not sure its relevant in this context. I guess this was the “food trivia” advertised on the box. I wonder what the others are.
that’s kinda weird…i wonder if the box i just bought by them of the lentil dish has a message like that…i’ll make sure to look when i have it some time this week!
and that oatmeal looks divine!
yeah- thats weird. i wouldnt be so put off except for the first line. perhaps they could have been more focused on health instead of using the word fat.
it reads like a 5 year old wrote it. Its random and not organized very well.
weird.

It looks like it is still on there from the whole low carb phase…like they are trying to say that too many calories, not too many carbohydrates, make you fat. At least that’s how I took it.
I’m only about 14 days late on this one.
They put these cardboard inserts into all the combo meals. I think it’s used to separate the rice and other package from each other. They have several different saying that seem to be randomly put in each box. I actually thought this was an interesting idea. This one is especially relevant to all the morons on the low carb fad diets who are destroying their health.
I’ve been eating tastybite foods at work since I decided to become a vegan and love their food. It’s very convenient and doesn’t need to be refrigerated and lasts forever on the shelf.
The only real down side is that sometimes they run out of the rice that I use with the individual meals (Bombay potatoes, etc.) and I can’t seem to find a good microwaveable rice replacement (which is how I ran across this site).
