Surprise Surprise…

Here is what got me out of bed this morning at 8AM:

Whole Foods Comes to Richmond! I have been waiting for this day for quite some time now so needless to say I woke up early to arrive at the GRAND OPENING. I’ve lived in places nearby a Whole Foods so I have been desperately missing it since I moved to Richmond.

I was there, along with a handful, and by handful I mean around 200 others to receive a free pineapple and a reusable shopping bag — There were also a ton of free samples of food to taste. One really cool aspect was that all the free samples were products from local vendors (hummus, salsa, cookies, breads, etc.) And rather than having a regular associate do the samples, the “creator” of the product was there giving out their product. I had a bite of lots of samples, which was basically my breakfast.

This was only a small portion of the yogurt wall, but I thought it was kind of out of control how many yogurt varieties there were to choose from. Out of the wall, I found Rachel’s, which I haven’t had better. But still no Chobani!

I took a photo of this beer aisle divider because, well it looked cool, AND Pumpkin Ales being out in stores mean that Halloween is soon. Okay, so I know stores are insane and try to draw out holidays by getting ready for them months in advance. But still, I love pumpkin flavored beer and Halloween so I am kind of stoked about October drawing near.

Olive bar! The cheese with rosemary and the red berries (? – not quite sure if they are berries) reminded me of Christmas. And I know I said I like Halloween, but I like Christmas even more.

Here are the goods: I didn’t buy all that much today – I was mainly looking for things on sale and the store was so crowded. I figured now that I don’t live an hour away from a Whole Foods I can go back whenever I please so I just picked up a few things. I think the photo is pretty self explanatory, but the bulk item is Quinoa, which I am excited to try. And, I did find the apple and blueberry flavored Z-bars that I have been wanting to try, so I’m pretty excited about that.

Hooray for Whole Foods in Richmond, Coming Soon…Trader Joes!!!

Yay! How exciting!! I still need to try the Rachel’s yogurt – apparently they are on sale at my Whole Foods this week for 70 cents…gotta get there!

I’m excited to hear what you think of the ZbaRs! And I sort of LOVE how stores draw out the holidays – it makes me giggle like a little girl every time I see the display. I’m serious, I act like a 5-year-old.

Wow, how lucky are you! And LOOK at that yogurt wall, that is so intense. I’d go completely crazy if I had the chance to set foot into a Whole Foods store. Someday….

Love the pumpkin ale too. That is so cool. I really hope I can find something along those lines around here! I love Halloween :)

So it seems that by the time I come to Richmond, the city will have all the joys of my heart.

So glad you have a WF and a TJ’s on the way! These pictures are great – I especially like the beer divider.

How fun is that? I would love to go to a grand opening of a Whole Foods. I wish we had a Trader Joe’s, but it sounds like you will be getting one soon.

I like the blueberry z-bars, but the apple cinnamon were to appley to me. Can’t wait to hear what you think!

Whoa! Look at that line! Ridiculous! And the wall ‘o yogurt? Amazing.

We went to the Dogfish Head Restaurant up here on Monday, but they were still only selling their seasonal beer. Will definitely be looking forward to trying the Punkin!

So exciting. A new WF opened up by me about a year ago and this made me nostalgic for its grand opening. All the samples!

Enjoy the new WF.
