Today has been the first day I have actually sat down at the computer for more than 20 minutes this weekend. I didn’t get pictures of most of my eats, but I do have some highlights!
On Friday night the weekend started at around 5 PM and looked a little something like this.
We had a little shin-dig at our place for the first time since we have moved in. It was really fun… lots of my girl friends from out of town came and Isaac had some friends in town as well. We celebrated a birthday and a said goodbye to a friend who is going to Korea.. it was a little bit of everything combined into one bash. It turned into a long night of drinking and eating.. I ate way too many sun chips and b-day cake…… I don’t wanna talk about it.
Saturday: I don’t have any food photos, but the next afternoon after a quick clean up, we had my Nanny’s 76th b-day cookout and then another b-day cookout later that evening. I ended up not having any more cake despite all the b-day celebrations. But for my Nanny’s it wasn’t totally my decision not to have cake. My mom thought it would be a good idea to sit the cake on my Nanny’s lap to get a photo of her blowing out the candles. Well the cake started sliding and she couldn’t catch it so it ended up on the floor top down. It was too funny not to laugh… needless to say we didn’t eat any cake- but my mom scooped ice cream for anyone who wanted it.
Sunday: I woke up and had oats. I’m bored with oatmeal photos so I left that out, but for lunch I had something fun. Mock Chicken Salad made with Tempeh. Another good batch of tempeh.. not strong or bitter at all, but again it wasn’t made by me. I got it from a local health food store. I some of it on the side of a salad.
And then we ate a Ruby Tuesday’s before a concert and I ordered the salad bar and a vodka lime soda. Here is my first plate. I had a second with some cottage cheese, grapes, dried cranberries, and some more of the pumpernickel croutons (they are so good).
And for the first time ever I have a male guest eater who wanted to be featured on the blog. Here is my friend Adam’s delicious Ruby Tuesday’s burger. He wanted me to let you all know that he took the pickles and onions off – that is the reason they are sitting on the side. He also cut the burger in half to make for easier eating.
After dinner we went to the Brad Paisley concert. I quickly drank a Magic Hat #9 beer in the car to prepare for said concert. Although I grew up in the country and my mom listened to country music when I was younger it’s not my favorite genre… attending this concert was something the birthday boy of the weekend really wanted to do – so we joined him.
I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend!

I love rubytuesday salad bar, they have so much good stuff on there! I have been wanting to try there veggie burger too.
Is Brad Paisely the one who is married to the girl from Father of the Bride? Happy Birthday to your Nanna.
Heather
Why on earth would anyone leave the onions off?!?!?!
What great post, I loved it!
Has anyone told you that you look like a doll? So pretty!
ooooh how was the concert??
the party sounds like it was a blasty
i LOVE ruby tuesday’s salad bar.. and their mashed cauliflower!
hope you had a great day!
What a fun weekend and great food too!
That’s hilarious about your Nanny’s cake. I probably would have dug in with a fork straight from the ground. Or maybe not, but I would definitely be tempted!
You’re a trooper for going to a country concert and not being a country fan. I’m not a country fan either and I just don’t know how overjoyed I would be about attending that concert.
Your shin-dig sounds like a lot of fun! I love the picture of you and the wine – classic
Haha, a male guest eater! That’s awesome! Although I would have left the pickles and onions on
My husband has this thing about refusing to cut a burger or sandwich in half, regardless of how big it might be. He’ll suffer for his manhood. *rolling eyes*
Caroline: Thanks, I just checked out our blog as well and like it a lot. And yes the Ruby Tuesday’s salad bar is pretty amazing
Christie: I agree, you can get that mad about it considering what’s done is done.
Hangry: He might be, I have no idea though.
Erin: I totally agree with leaving the onions on, or putting on EXTRA. You are sweet – I think the only person who has said I look like doll – besides my mom and she is biased.
Gina: I totally wanted to try the mashed cauliflower, but didn’t. Maybe next time.
Kristie: I know I totally thought we should still eat it for a second. I mean my mom had just cleaned the floors that day.
Jenn: I do love me some wine. I think he should have as well.
Ps: Haha… thats pretty comical.
Re: the first picture, that’s how most of my weekends start too
I’m in love with Ruby Tuesday’s just because of those croutons, but we don’t have one here near where I live. I’m always on the lookout for them at the store, but haven’t been successful yet. I suppose I could make my own, but that seems like too much work
