Mint is Cool

by eatingbirdfood on August 28, 2008

I finally got around to trying the Cool Mint Chocolate mini Clif Bar that I got at the half marathon race.

I won’t lie, at the race they had a whole basket of this flavor out to give away and then there was a huge box of the peanut butter flavor hidden under the table. I thought they were just trying to get rid of the cool mint ones because they weren’t all that good and saving the PB because they were easier to get rid of. I don’t know why I thought this… but it probably has something to do with the fact that Peanut Butter flavored bars are usually the best… does Peanut Butter Cookie LARA BAR ring a bell?

Surprisingly I really liked the cool mint flavor, it was kind of like eating a crunchy Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie - actually it tasted a lot like a thin mint and thin mints are my favorite, those and samosas. The bar touts that it Contains Green Tea – A Natural Source of Caffeine. I can’t say that I felt any effect from the green tea, but that seems like a good addition to an energy bar. Overall, I liked this flavor, but Clif bars aren’t something I snack on often because they have more calories than your average bar. I perfer the z-bars over the large ones, but the mini clifs are a good size for snacking, and only 100 calories. And in case you were wondering, here are the nutritional for a regular sized Cool Mint Chocolate bar.

Oh la la! That sounds worth trying. I’m not a big Clif bar eater either because of their density.
Look at your cute new pic on the side bar, I love it!

I have yet to see this kind anywhere around here but I really think I would like it. Especially if it tastes like a thin mint. I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for it.

Christie I – I know I have seen it somewhere because I have bought one and tried it. I shop at Kroger, Target, Ukrops, and Ellwood Thompson’s so it had to be from one of those places I just can’t put a finger on which one. I have feeling that I got it at Ukrops or Target. I will let you know if I find it again.

I love those free mini Cliff bars they give away at races! They’re the perfect size for a snack. As a matter of fact, I picked up one of the chocolate mint ones at a race on Saturday- but unfortunately it already disappeared from the pantry (ahem, husband?). So I’ll just have to take your word for how good they are…
