Get the Door

It’s Brittany, the delivery girl from Domino’s. Yep, that’s right, I used to work at Domino’s during college, delivering pizza. It was a pretty cool job – I got to ride around in my car all day, eat whole pizzas, listen to music, bring people along for rides, all while making $. People were always surprised to see a girl delivering pizza, and I think I got better tips because of this. Oh yea, and I forgot to mention that Isaac also worked there during college, and this is kind of where our relationship started, how romantic: cheap pizza love. Not entirely true because we didn’t actually meet there –  his roommate was dating my roommate, and they introduced us. But still, we did work there together and it was love at first sight because Isaac thought I  looked cute in the domino’s uniform… right Isaac? That’s not true either because I am the one that noticed his on campus and tried to get people to introduce me to him. He actually said one time that he had never saw me on campus before. Can you believe that? So back to last night, we went to our old place of work, and made our own pizzas, because we are pizza pros after having worked there. I made a thin crust veggie with some pineapple added on. It was okay, pizza is pizza to me, not my favorite food – but it was free. And, free is good!

I ate a lot of this in college, because like I said free is good. On to my present life and more healthy eating:

Trader Joe’s is full of great products and just recently I tried one that I had been meaning to try for quite some time. Frozen, microwavable, steel cut oats. I made some today for breakfast. Turns out these little packets (only 2 come in one box) are pretty good and great for a change from the regular old fashioned oats. The oats have a chewier texture and are very filling. The packets are already flavored with a hint of brown sugar, to make them a little on the sweet side, but not too sweet. I added in 1/2 a banana (not pictured.) And a sprinkle of cinnamon. Over all, I would buy this again, but not that often because the package, which contains 2 packets of steel cut oats, costs around the same as a whole container of old fashioned oats.

Another part of my breakfast was (drum roll please) an ezekiel english muffin with PB and 1/2 banana. You will be happy to know, or I am happy rather, that I finally found these at a grocery store, but unhappy because the store I found them at is 2 hours from my house. I seriously can’t find the ezekiel english muffins at any store in Richmond, and this is bad because I vowed never to eat Thomas English muffins again, after having had an Ezekiel muffin. But it’s okay I bought one pack of cinnamon raisin and one pack of regular so they will last a couple days little while.

I’m pretty stoked because I am a member of Gold’s Gym and I found out today that when you travel you can go to another Gold’s Gym in the area you are staying for free. So today, I went over to work out and did 1 hour on the treadmill and some other machines and exercises that didn’t involve cardio.

Have a great weekend!

I’m in DC and can’t find the Ezekiel muffins anywhere either. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a find at Whole Foods this weekend.

Quinn- I found them at Root’s grocery store in Maryland. It’s a local organic store with only 2 stores. I don’t know how close you live to Maryland, but it would be worth it to check the place roots out. They have a lot of great stuff and their produce is really cheap.

Ezekiel English muffins are the best! They freeze great (it just takes a while to defrost) so if the grocery store is really out of the way it pays to stock up.

Great blog!
