I think a lot of people lost 5-10 lbs on South Beach Phase 1...and then promptly gained it back. I found the no carb thing impossible. It was okay for two weeks, but then trying adapt to phase 2 was like opening the floodgate of carbs. I will say, I still go back to the recipes, because they are good.

Besty- I know no carbs is basically impossible! And, not to mention really bad for your body as well. If you do not get enough carbs your body goes into ketosis and must use fat and protein for energy, when those should be used for other important tasks for your body to function. For the week I did it, I was taking a nutrition class that semester so I made sure I at least got the minimal amount of carbs in order to keep my body from going into ketosis. However it still made my system wacky.

i could never ever ever cut out carbs. i love them too much.

i ALWAYS put chili powder on my sweet potatoes. it's a fabulous combo. well, i put chili powder on a ton of my food, so i think it works well on everything. except sweets, i guess.
