Not really. I just feel like I have been really busy since I got off work. I left at 5:30, went to the gym, walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes, went to a class at the gym from 6:30-7:30. Came home and made this for dinner: veggie burger one 1/2 a bun, chili sweet potatoes, and peas. And a salad.
I then went ahead and started preparing homemade gazpacho for tomorrows lunch, and some other lunches this week I suppose since it made 5 servings. I used a recipe of the South Beach diet book I have. I hate to admit it, but my college roommate and I did the phase 1 of this diet last year just to try it. It’s really restrictive.. basically no carbs for two weeks (PHASE 1), then you can start gradually adding them back in. We did well for week 1, then the weekend came around, which just happened to be Easter weekend, and we both we to see our families and of course didn’t stick to the diet and never started back again when we came back to school. I did lose 5 pounds and gained those back within 2 weeks, however I also didn’t have my period that month, so yeah I don’t recommend the no carb thing. There is a plus side, however, because I still have a few good recipes in the book, the gazapacho and a portobella mushroom thing. I’ll probably end up making that at some point. So after the soup and talking on the phone with my cousin for an hour, I took a shower, then finally sat down to rest at 10:30 and now its 10:55, so I should probably go to bed soon… whew the evenings go by too quickly.

mmm what a great idea to add chili powder to sweet potatoes
i could never ever ever cut out carbs. i love them too much.
i ALWAYS put chili powder on my sweet potatoes. it’s a fabulous combo. well, i put chili powder on a ton of my food, so i think it works well on everything. except sweets, i guess.
Besty- I know no carbs is basically impossible! And, not to mention really bad for your body as well. If you do not get enough carbs your body goes into ketosis and must use fat and protein for energy, when those should be used for other important tasks for your body to function. For the week I did it, I was taking a nutrition class that semester so I made sure I at least got the minimal amount of carbs in order to keep my body from going into ketosis. However it still made my system wacky.
I think a lot of people lost 5-10 lbs on South Beach Phase 1…and then promptly gained it back. I found the no carb thing impossible. It was okay for two weeks, but then trying adapt to phase 2 was like opening the floodgate of carbs. I will say, I still go back to the recipes, because they are good.
